ESPN - College coaching legend Knight resigns from Texas Tech - Men's College Basketball
One of the greatest college basketball coaches ever has decided to call it a career.
Bobby Knight, long time coach of the Indiana Hoosiers, and recently coach of Texas Tech, has decided to retire mid-season.
I have always admired his style and how he coached the game of basketball. What is more important, is that in the ever increasing era of college scandals, Bobby Knights programs were never investigated for any wrong doings, and he made sure his players were going to class and getting the grades. A strict disciplinarian, he always got more from players than any other coach would have, IMO. If I would have had any basketball talent, and Coach Knight had recruited me, I would have gone in a second.
I'd have to say overall, I would put him as the second greatest coach ever, behind John Wooden and his 5,000 championships at UCLA. He will probably be surpassed by his protege, Mike Krysyzki(Sp?) at Duke, someday down the road. But Bob Knight is a legend, and a coach of which we will never see the likes of again.
