I would have to say Barry Sanders. Given how good his stats were on such mediocre teams, that makes him the greatest rb to ever play the game. Certainly the best big-play rb, that's what separates him from the likes of Wendale Payton and Marshall Faulk.

Emmitt Smith IMO is one of the most overrated rb of all time. He would not make my top 5.

Adrian Peterson and Terrell Davis would also be in the discussion for me.

I have no idea, but Tom didn't hesitate . . . Jim Brown.

Barry Sanders, hands down, don't even have to think about it. Walter Payton 2nd.

If having good stats on mediocre teams counts for something, you must think River, Ryan and Stafford are the best QBs too

I assume you said Emmitt was overrated because of his team and his line but then you put in Terrell Davis who had a better QB and that zone blocking scheme that lead so many RBs to 1000 yard seasons

Somehwere between Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, and Walter Peyton for me.

It was a pleasure to watch Sayers and then Peyton when I was young.

I would like to have seen Brown.

Name all the rb's that have rushed for 2,000 yards in a season.

In the 8 playoffs games he played, his total rushing yards in the playoffs: 1,140.

Guess how many yards Emmitt Smith has in the playoffs? 1,586 in 17 playoff games.

Emmitt Smith is a an extremely overrated running back. He played on a team with stars that made him drastically look better than he actually was.

In the card collecting world Sanders is an easy buy for a psa 9 for 39 bucks, while Payton is in more demand and carries about a 500 buck price for a psa 9

Jim Brown.

Barry Sanders was great...no doubt. Walter Peyton...great. No doubt.

There are so many great RBs. Dickerson...Smith...Campbell...Harris...Faulk.

As a Broncos fan I would have to point out that as much as I love TD...Mike Anderson stepped up without much of a dropoff. Much of TDs greatness was due to having Shanahans system, a great O Line, Elway at QB, Sharp at TE, Rod Smith...

Barry!

Also, putting his criminal history aside, OJ would've had two 2,000 yard seasons had he played 16 game seasons. His 2,000 yard season would've probably been close 2,300 with those two extra games.

I'd probably still say Jim Brown, but right on his heels would be Barry and Walter.

If the category were 'who is your favorite RB of all time' mine would have to be Earl Campbell. So much power.

Barry Sanders. And one of the nicest, most humble guys too.

L.T. should get an honourable mention.
