Baseball, Steroids & Congress

Can someone explain to me why Congress is investigating Major League Baseball? I mean, what business is it of Congress? Does MLB get federal money or something that subjects it's officials and players to having to testify in front of Congress? Everytime I hear about this investigation I can't help but think Congress has no business dealing with this.

If there's evidence that a guy buys, sells or is using drugs, then it seems like the executive branch would go investigate and arrest.

I don't think MLB should be legally required to test or take on any kind of investigative or law enforcement role any more than any other business.

I also don't care what players pump into their body.

All I know is that the Astros are screwed. Baltimore traded Tejada to them ONE day before the Mitchell Report came out. Now Tejada is going to be indicted.

Could that be considered "insider trading" by the Orioles? LOL.

If sports are as big in America as it would seem for me its important to keep steroids out of sports.Millions of children wanna be sport stars and if they allow steroids it will trickle down to them where once a few start doing them to get better they all will.

If people wanna see sports where people die for their entertainment bring back roman gladiators.Natural human fatigue is one of the things that makes sports great not people turning themselves into freaks of nature for enjoyment.

If congress has the time to enforce baseball ethics, then it clearly signifies they are running out of problems to tackle...

Ah ha! I just figured it out.

Major League Baseball has an anti-trust exemption that Congress can pretty much overturn anytime it wants. It all makes sense now. Just another reminder that the government is kind of like the devil- grants you a kindness but you don't realize until much later that there was always an ulterior motive.

Sneaky bureaucratic devils!
