'Golden Knights' revealed as Las Vegas' NHL team name - FOX5 Vegas - KVVU

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Silver State's first major league professional sports franchise is "golden."

In front of thousands of eager sports fans outside T-Mobile Arena, the Golden Knights moniker and logo were revealed Tuesday night as Las Vegas' identity in the NHL.

Wow, what a terrible name, it sounds like it was named by a bunch of pork pie hat wearing Ed Hardy clothed hipster douchebags.

Of course.....they will be known forever as the "Vegas Golden Showers" :lamo

Gary Bettman should eat a cow plop and die of tapeworms for what he's done to the NHL.

Bettman has more than tripled league revenues since he took over as commissioner. The game is much faster-paced (hurry-up faceoffs shaved like a half hour off of game times), there's a concerted effort to protect players from concussions and other serious injuries, fighting is down without the oft-warned cheap-shot increases that would come with that, and the league has much better exposure than it did five years ago. I'd say he started poorly but has done a great job in the last few years.

I'm still pissed about the rule changes after the last lock-out. Okay, the stretch pass is good but limiting the mobility of the goalies is still a bad idea. I mean, Martin Brodeur and Marty Turko aren't there anymore, let's get back to normal. You used to have to be Todd Bertuzzi to park in front of the net, now Bettman could stand there waiting for a cherry to fall on him. I wonder why scores don't get into double-digits the way the goalies get screened today. Remember that Sean Avery brain-fart in front of Brodeur? He would have been plastered to the ice before those changes where you can't clear the slot anymore. I never had a problem with ties but if there has to be a result, what's with that slam-dunk contest? A shoot-out isn't hockey, it's something they invented- might as well line both teams up at center ice and have then do the Chicken Dance on skates. If they had one last sudden-death 5 minutes without goalies at least it would look like a hockey game. On second thought, that might be tough on defensemen. There's too many front teeth in todays NHL anyway.
If they wan't to cut down on concussions, address the equipement issue. When Gordie Howe went into the corner with his elbows high, he was wearing padding. Now they're wearing plastic armour.

The Avery thing...
