Russian hackers leak Simone Biles and Serena Williams files - BBC News

Well well... seems a lot of US top athletes have ADHD all of a sudden and other illnesses that require banned substances to just walk around... Serena Williams takes 4 banned substances... all legal of course because of medical waivers put in place by the ITF, the same organisation that banned Sharapova for doping. Now Serena is one sick girl! Maybe she should not be doing sports if she has to take 4 different illegal doping medicine to just walk around.

And no I am not defending the Russian abuses in any way..... I am going after the hypocrisy... Take Maria Sharapova. All she had to do was apply to the Russian Tennis federation for a medical wavier on that medicine she was taking and all would be dandy...

If Sharapovas ban remains after the October hearing, then it will be the biggest miss-carriage of justice in tennis ever.. the William sisters are doping big time, but legally because the ITF is giving them a pass on "therapeutic use"... what a load of horse**** bias.

The hypocrisy is glaring... hope these hackers release more info.

I could live with that, but it is not hypocrisy that is glaring but crime.

Serena might have medical exemptions but they arent PEDs. Opioids and anti-inflammatories arent anything like Simone take amphetamines.

The WTA doping program is a joke and always has been.

If athletes really want to dope, I say let them. All these tests and enforcement come to nothing anyway because people will always find new ways to get around them.

What's next? An artificial intelligenced winner of the 100 yard dash? A transgendered winner of a 100 yard dash for women? Does it ever end? Will anyone marvel at the repeated breaking of world record times? Maybe some 'athletes' will have heavy corporate sponsorship? Yawn.

What do you mean by “a lot”? The article only names three and give no indication how many athletes are identified in the criminally leaked documents have TUEs. This actually struck me as weird when first reading about this since the media usually loves throwing around numbers in this kind of context and it makes me wonder the nature of the data they’re basing their articles on. Have they seen the raw data or are they just running on some kind of “press release” from the hackers?

Yes, if she had a valid medical reason for taking the banned substance, she could have applied for a similar exemption. She didn’t do that that so it isn’t in any way relevant. It’s a legitimate defence (or at least mitigation) in her case but no athlete can just claim the wavier retrospectively.

what a load of horse**** bias.
Only from you and from the Russian hackers. There is nothing wrong with this kind of medical exemption, which will have been a necessary element of any anti-doping regime world-wide.

Haven't you heard? Americans/Western Europeans can do no wrong. Different standards apply to ubermenschen; that's the natural order of things.

Alot? You mean 1?

Thats how the system works. Some people have medical reasons to take substances and it's allowed as long as they notify people before hand. It makes perfect sense. This is a non-issue.

That is why you have samples you test years down the road with the risk of them losing their awards and prize money. You can't know how to get around better means of testing that don't even exist yet.

Really? So someone like say a FTM can take testosterone because of a medical reason? Do you realize medical issues like ADHD or trangenderism don't impair performance in sports, but the drugs to treat them give the patients advantages against their competition? It actually makes no sense to allow people to take medicines during competition or training that warp competition and aren't medically necessary.

Similar to a few weeks ago, PeteEU doesn't even mention the illegal Russian hacking. He also wasn't at all outraged in late August when Russia hacked the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) database and uncovered the US address of Russian athlete Yulia Stepanova and her husband who fled Russia after exposing the massive state-run doping operations...

http://www.debatepolitics.com/sport...wers-fear-their-lives-after-cyber-attack.html

In this latest hack, each US athlete 'exposed' by the Russian hackers was upfront with WADA about prescribed medications and received official exemptions.

Far different than the Russian Olympic lab in Sochi that exchanged tainted Russian urine samples for clean samples, and the dozens of Russian athlete's who hid from WADA testers in the weeks before the Rio Olympics.

Where did I ever say that? None of the people in the hack were using testosterone for a medical reason. Please stay on topic.

The rules are in place. If you want them changed thats fine, go write a letter. But complaining about someone getting busted for not following the rules is silly, and that's what I was commenting on. Nothing to do with transgendered people.

It was an example that follows your logic and was already accepted in the last Olympics as valid. Anyway, the drugs in question in the story actually helps the athletes, while the drugs are not medically necessary.

Then go argue with them. I'm simply saying that the system was setup so that if you are on something, you need to get a waiver. One person didn't, therefor they got punished. Other than that I don't care if they want to allow transgender athletes or not. That's their problem.

It actually is a problem though. It's one thing to give people waivers for drugs that are medically necessary and doesn't affect performance, but when the drug affects performance and isn't even medically necessary it's unfair to allow them to take it.

Sharapova had "medical reasons" for her substance.. but the doping agency made it illegal and because she did not get a medical dispensation then she was banned..

What I want to know, is what the hell Serena is sick with, as she needs to take 4 different drugs, of which most are potential performance enhancing..

And? She took a substance that she didn't have a waiver for and you want to compare that to athletes that are taking substances that they do have waivers for?

Not the same thing.

I agree with the bolded part of your post.

And they'll end up catching a few, but there will be a lot more who already got away with it. Take Lance Armstrong's case for example- everybody in cycling was doping but they focused on him and they ultimately got him, but a whole bunch of others got away with it.

Waaa.... "Your dopers are cheating better than our dopers."

Reminds me of all the whining about Lance just because he cheated more effectively then they did.

Mo Farah on steroids, drips and thyroid medication.

Amazing that a healthy athlete gas this many medical issues.
