Tebow!!!!

Tebow is a great quarterback...

...if we're living in 1932.

In this century though, he's barely big enough to be tight end, but would probably be a pretty solid fullback. That's what he should have done--accepted that he could be on an NFL roster as a versatile starting fullback like Marcel Reece was/is for the Raiders. Besides blocking, he would have been a decent run threat; they could have split him out in certain situations, and he would have been a good safety valve when the downfield receivers were covered. He could have also been a solid emergency quarterback, which would have allowed a team to carry just two quarterbacks on the roster and none on the practice squad.

The guy could have had good value for quite a few teams as a fullback, but the sin of pride occasioned him hitherto the heath onto his fundament.

He reeks of it.

Time for the fall maybe....

I produced evidence that we'll never know if he could have done better or not. I produced evidence that a crap team could have picked him up for revenues at the very least. I don't know if he could have been a good QB. He got less of a chance than many other as bad or worse QBs got.

This is flat out untrue. First lets point out that Tebow is historically bad as a QB, only 4 starting QBs in the past 25 years have had had less than 50% completion rate for a season: Tim Tebow, JaMarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf and Heath Shuler.

Lets look at their careers

Shuler: 4 years in the league, 22 games started
Leaf: 3 years in the league, 21 games started
Russell: 3 years in the league, 25 games started
Tebow: 3 years in the league, 16 games started

So Tebow got pretty much the chance you would expect for his skill level at QB

This proves the decision to cut him was not related to managing a successful team.

It had to be something else, imo.

No it doesn't. Tebow was a terrible QB. It doesn't matter if he "sold seats", which I'm not sure that's even quantifiable. What matters are the W's...Tebow didn't have them, couldn't get them. A successful team gets the W's. Couldn't play at the NFL level. He didn't just have a horrible first year. He had a horrible every year. He never came out as that elite QB people had expected of him, he never had a regular season QB rating above 85. Does that sound like someone who is going to make a "successful team"?

The fact of the matter is, he had his shot, he was bounced around several teams, but he never made an impact, he never performed at the NFL level. This whole "it had to be something else" is just fishing for excuses. He could not compete at the NFL level, that's all there was to it.

I'm a Pittsburg Steeler fan and I approve this message

brief derail

after cam newton started handing off touchdown footballs to kids in the end zone, those seats became more desirable

at first opportunity - the playoffs - panthers upcharged a premium for those seats

but yea, for tebow and most other players, their impact of attendance/absenteeism would be difficult to evaluate

It's clear to me that God doesn't like Tebow.
