The story in the AP this morning says they turned over the equivalent of $53.00 US Dollars.

I can assure you that will not cover the door and the sign.

I don't know where the figure of $900.00 came from, maybe very honest athletes involved here.

Technically, those athletes are given free pass into and out of countries until teams revoke their status. Ever wonder why USSR athletes came to the US for Lake Placid or any other event?
 
When I was a teenager I probably did plenty of stupid things, and damaged other people's property. But I quickly outgrew that.

This guy is in his 30's? He's got to pee and decides to cause $10,000 worth of damage to a bathroom? He's either a frat boy moron who never grew up or the steroids are causing his destructive rage.

I hope it's the steroids and that becomes public, so they will end up stripping him of his medals.

The incredible display of low class behavior so typical of today's society in this country is such a sad thing. It's like where did you go America? Or have we always been this crass? I don't know.

That certain parts of the spectators and the athletes participated in such a low class thing as booing the Russian athletes just fits right in.

I'm a gator alumnus and freely admit he's a douche but there is no way he caused $10k in damage at that dump. That said why would you leave the Olympic complex without a top notch security team if you have the resources he has.

And I don't understand your point about him leaving the complex without security. He didn't need security. Him and his frat buddies caused all the problems. No one else.

I've read a few different reports. So I don't know the real story. 1 said they peed here and there in the bathroom and on the property and then just damaged the door. Others said they cause quite a bit of damage and they wrecked the inside of the bathroom. Anyway thee last story I read this morning said $10,000 in damage.

Again, the cost doesn't matter. A 32 YO should know better than to destroy private property. Especially someone that has money and endorsements riding on his behavior.

I'm still siding with Lochte on this, until there is definitive proof otherwise. I trust the account of even the most douchiest of Americans over the account of a backwards third world country like Brazil.

That being said, Lochte should never have been in that situation in the first place. A 30-something adult should be well past the vandalizing property phase. I know people like him, adults in their late 20s and early 30s who still do dumb **** like this, and they are the most annoying individuals you could ever meet.

To be fair to you - you clearly don't know the facts of the situation. One thing I do know is that I totally renovated my master bathroom last year. Even with pretty high priced labor it cost about 10K. But I can see how some amongst us could think that damages to a gas station bathroom in a slum in Rio could amount to $10K.

Actually no I can't but I'm a very polite person.
