Latest Evidence:The Olympics Need to DIE

tell us again exactly why the olympic games should be ended

I am working up my argument.

Prob will run a few thousand words.

I will let you know when I finish it, if I decide to do it.

Thank you sir for your enquiry, do come again, we love to see your ugly mug(You want maybe my barbers name?).

Sorry, I have a nasty habit of not leaving enough breadcrumbs, it is my fault.

I equated telling Russia less than three weeks before the Opening Ceremony that they cant come with telling a girl 3 hours before prom that the nite is off . I am saying "Well Sir Captain, if you think that telling Russia at this late hour that they cant come is fine then you must also think it is OK to tell the Girl 3 hours before prom that you have decided that she is not good enough"

Did you ever do it?

Would U?

Interesting metaphor or example. But for the two examples to be related since Russia is doping up their athletes, would be for you or the good Captain to find out the girl you were going to take to the prom in three hours is a crackhead and flying high.

Which I say does not matter because she has long been a crackhead whore, as are too many of the other broads, and if you just found out about it 3 hours before the date then that is proof positive that you are a blockhead, so you take what you get, that is how justice works, you honor your word and escort the lady. There is no reason she should suffer the cost of carrying your stupidity, that on you, PAL (Figuratively Man!).

AND WE ARE OFF.

I cant watch it legally for 3 more hours.

Not even on the internet.

Cause this is America.

You've spent practically the whole thread complaining about how the Olympics need to die and now you're whining because you can't watch it

Boredom. The wife and I had plans for a big day that got cancelled at the last minute...all we did was take the dog to the beach. The chores are done, no projects feel good today, my brain is too scattered to deep read and my escape reading GOT's is boring me...I needed something to do.

My wife says I needed something to bitch about.

:ssst:

EDIT: As I said in another thread all I could do was an hour. Feel free to rate the event, and give a review if you like.

Unless something blows up or someone gets taken hostage...I am not interested in the Olympics at all. I'd rather slice onions for five hours than watch one of those broadcast programs.

Hmmm onion slicing competitions, see who can chop the most onions in a given time, who can chop longest before tearing up, and the Iron Man, who can continue to chop the longest. Perhaps they will include it in the next Olympics

Sorry to hear the plans fell through, still good for your doggy though, I bet he/she loved that!

Sheesh calamity let's hope that doesn't happen and you are able to find something else to keep you busy and amused.

That or I better have plans to make one heck of a giant vat of onion soup.

Americans get the opening ceremony on one hour delay:

For those that do wish to watch in my Country, the time difference is not in our favour. It's Sunday 12:29 AM here and the days events are really only just starting so most of us will be sleeping. It's a shame for those who do wish to watch but that's a small price to pay for living in the greatest Country in the World I guess

America has won the first medal, in shooting! Now if we can just get them to stop.....

One thing i would like to see change at least from the american media is the obsession with overall medals. I am not saying from a competitor's standpoint, but from a viewer, i don't view 3rd place as so much than 4th than it merits the pretension of being superior to other countries' results. In addition, acting like 3rd is as good as 1st is ridiculous. The only thing that matters to me is gold. I saw a swim race where the 1st place girl was a full body length ahead of 2nd and i'm like, the idea that the american silver medalist counts as "1" and so does the winner truly makes no sense. A point system would be better

Then the other problem is you get things like 8 medals from a single swimmer, which is impossible in other sports. The chinese for instance suck at track so will fall way behind, yet they are dominant in say table tennis where there's only 4 total medals

I'm not sure what the answer is, but i don't find the way they tabulate results now to be very legitimate

my objection is to the olympics becoming a dick measuring contest among the major nations

the medal count by nation. what does that really tell us? hopefully that the olympic motto "faster - higher - stronger" is not for purposes of enhancing national pride, emphasizing the haves and disparaging to the have-nots

at the opening ceremonies i was disgusted at the team members, at every camera closeup, chanting "USA, USA, USA" while the other nation's representative athletes were still parading within the facility. it was disrespectful and the opposite of 'American exceptionalism'

How about a green diving pool?
