Best and worst Super Bowls

Tracey Porter's int prevented the Colts from tiring the game, and the Saints would have had enough time to score a FG.

If Butler does not make that int, Seahawks win
.... The win probability was in the high 90's.

No if Butler knocks down the pass or the WR drops it, the Pats still win

How do you figure? It was only 1st or 2nd down. There was a lot of time left and at least two more plays for Lynch or Wilson to run it in.

There was just 20 seconds left and its not a guarantee that Seattle could have run it in

They had time outs, IIRC. 20 seconds is a ton of time...actually, it was 26 seconds left; 1 time out.

As big of a Patriots fan I am... The odds were in the Seahawks favor. Thank God the Seahawks passed the ball.

The best one ever was last year. I had no dog in the fight and didn't really care who one, but it was the most exciting end to a superbowl ever and one of the dumbest moves ever by a coach.

If you are referring to the fact that Carroll chose a pass play on that particular play, I completely disagree. if you are referring to the particular pass play (throwing it into traffic with the game on the line), I have more agreement with you.

Throwing the ball in the circumstance was the right move (given time on the clock and what they were expecting), but throwing it into traffic was a bad move. The ball should have been thrown to the back of the end zone where either the receiver got it or no one got it. Throwing an incomplete pass on that play gave the team more plays to put it into the end zone than they would have had with a run that was stuffed at the goal line.

I disagree. The Seahawks still had 1 timeout and if they had run the ball they could have still called 2 passing plays if Lynch hadn't scored.

It was overall bad coaching by Carroll/Bevell.

After the Kearse catch the Seahawks called a timeout. Not really necessary there. They have 1 timeout left.

The next play was the correct play: They gave the ball to Lynch who took it to the 1-yard line.

I believe the Seahawks were expecting the Patriots to call a timeout and they didn't. The Patriots had 2 timeouts and the conventional wisdom was that BB was gonna try to give Brady as much time to get in FG range in case the Seahawks scored.

That most likely flustered Carroll. If the Patriots did call a timeout I am guessing Lynch would have gotten the ball or they would have called a running play for Wilson.

Hardly a "bad" coaching call.... If I remember, they basically could run two plays if they did a run first; three plays if they began with an incomplete pass. They may have had one time out, but a busted running play can burn more time than a short incomplete pass. They were expecting the run; the pass had a good chance of taking them by surprise. The only thing you want, though is a safe pass.... wide open or throw it away. The 2nd and 3rd play would be the run.

You can not like the call.... but calling the pass a very bad idea, just isn't right. I agree, they never should have thrown the pass into traffic.
