LT? Primetime? JJ (maybe a little too soon), of all who played, who would you most want on your team?

LT, Watt or, in his prime years, Warren Sapp. A run stuffer who could rush the passer like that is fairly invaluable.

Greetings, JC. :2wave:

Off the top of my head, I'd pick Dick Butkas of the Bears! He was probably the most feared linebacker in NFL history, and the opposition actually seemed afraid of him! That's the main reason he's in the Football Hall of Fame, IMO! I've always loved football - you can be mean and nasty, and get paid for it! :lamo:

Deacon Jones was another mean one - he said he wasn't trying to put the opposition in the hospital - but the morgue!

Hey Pg *hug*

Two great old school choices!

We here in Detroit had Suh, and he was great for that his first and last years here.

I am torn between two

Deacon Jones & Reggie White

Both were game changers, and were double or triple teamed

Both changed the way teams played against them

Deacon was before Reggie, and sometimes I wonder if he was as dominant as I remember....so I go back and watch, and he was even better than I remembered....

Yeah, I forgot about Reggie, good one!

Bruce Smith? I think LT was the most disruptive, the offense never knew where he was coming from. I liked Lester the molester when stickum was legal. As much as I can't stand him Ray Lewis was a force for a long time.

I think Deacon Jones was the main reason the League changed its rules! :lamo: He was before my time, but I've seen clips of some of his plays over the years, and he literally picked players up and slammed them down to the ground as hard as he could! It looked like he was trying to break bones! :wow:

I know he was tough! You can't do a lot of that stuff nowadays without being severely penalized, mainly I think because of the money these players are paid but also because of concussion lawsuits.

Btw, are the Bengals your team?

LT was definitely the best of his era. It's difficult to compare players between eras.

It's also not fair, we should only judge anyone by the times they lived in. LT was a beast and redefined the postion of Line backer. I was lucky enough to witness his whole career.

I've always liked Green Bay, but the Browns are local so they're my team. They aren't having a good year! Sad.... Maybe LeBron will make up for it in basketball.....

I'm biased but I'd say Dick Butkus or Dan Hampton.

My 3 "best" defensive players, in no particular order.

1. Ronnie Lott

2. Reggie White

3. Mike Singleton

Yeah, the Browns are just run very poorly and have been for years. Green Bay's a good surrogate team, they're owned by the local citizens. And yeah, at least you have LeBron! :)

Oops, brain fart..lol

LMAO. To be fair Im not sure how good Singletary was because he played behind one of the greatest if not the greatest defensive line in NFL history (The Fridge, Richard Dent, Danimal Hampton, Mongo McMichael- two hall of famers and I think McMichael ought to be hall of fame too) so they sure made it easy for him.

I'm totally biased and a Steeler's fanatic so I'll pick Joe Greene from the 70's, the best of his era, and I'll take James Harrison for the 2000s, still a force at 37.
