K. Malone. His career was so long and productive.

I'm thinking of guys not yet mentioned, like Elgin Baylor, Dominique Wilkins, Reggie Miller, Chris Webber, Pistol Pete, maybe Steve Nash. All of them were studs. None won a title.

I'd say though, the guy I cannot believe failed to win one was Barkley. He sure came close though.

Jason Kidd won with Dallas in 2011 Bodi.

My immediate response would have been Malone or Stockton...but...Iverson...Hmmm...

Three white guards come to mind - Maravich, Stockton and Nash. All were brilliant.

I used to teach with a guy who played college ball with a guy who ended up playing for New Orleans and played two years with Maravich. He would entertain us with stories the friend told of the amazing stuff Maravich could do in practice and in games relating that the guy was just in another league altogether.

Elgin Baylor - not a white guard - would probably get my vote if it came down to just one guy.

Gary Payton should be on the list too.

Oops, forgot Miami

Oscar Robertson. oops he won one too.

If I were expanding my list past one (which would unquestionably be Baylor), I'd add (in addition to most of the names already given) Ewing, George Gervin, Dave Bing, Pete Maravich, Alex English, David Thompson, Dikembe Mutombo, Vince Carter and Adrian Dantley

I'm not listing active guys, or Durant, Melo and CP3 would make the list.

I agree in a historic context (meaning to include guys I have not seen play), Eglin is number one. He's like the Jim Kelly of BB, but with 8 finals appearances with no title. 8!

Of the guys I saw play, I have to go with Charles. Even more so than K. Malone, Charles was a force all his own. For years he was number two in the league, and that was only because no one could catch Jordan.

Malone's offensive numbers (which dwarf Charles') are largely a product of longevity and playing the vast majority of his career in a rather one-dimensional pick-and-roll based offense with Stockton. One reason the Jazz never could win a title with that offense was because they rarely had other options once they ran into a team that could neutralize it.

Yep, definitely Stockton made Malone.

Some people say if Allen Iverson and Pete Maravich had more talent around them, they would have won a championship.

They were great offensive players but IMO played too much hero ball. Style over substance. I'd take a John Stockton-type guard unless it was 1-1.

Depends on what I need. Distributor, Stockton. Scorer, Iverson. They're no really comparable players.

Iverson carried the Sixers to a Finals basically by himself. Stockton was never the kind of player who had the skillset to do that.
