Coldplay Is Superbowl Halftime Act????

They seem rather dull for a spectacle-type show.

Did you see one of the tweets they posted in the article. :lamo

Glad Coldplay is performing at the Super Bowl this yesterday. Watching football is exhausting so it's nice to take a nap during halftime.

Listening to the morning radio talk shows going on and on about this today one summed it up well...

"Because of the corporatism of the NFL, they signed off on a corporatized act for the halftime show. Something that passes by sponsors, the owners, the networks, all those involved in pulling off a halftime show. Think elevator music, and Coldplay has most certainly become elevator music that the NFL would sign off on."

Actually, Coldplay are an excellent choice (from a marketing point of view).

They are still a popular band (their last album in 2014 sold almost 4 million world wide).

And their type of music at least sounds remotely like the music the over 30/middle-aged people (who make up most of the Super Bowl watching crowd) used to/still listen to.

Most hit music today leaves that age group (especially those over 40) a bit dazed and confused.

Forgetting whether you like their sound or not...they seem an excellent marketing choice for the Super Bowl half time to me.

Personally, I couldn't give a crap. I watch football games for football.

Imo, halftime shows are aimed more at the people who watch football but don't really like it that much...something to keep them happy.

Halftime is usually when I cook some food or make another sandwich or take a dump so no big deal for me. :2razz:

To be honest I thought Coldplay had broken up - and no one noticed.

Not really looking forward to the opportunity for a wardrobe malfunction.

I take my dumps in the morning usually. But I do need to pee a lot these days. So for me it would be a pee break not a dump.

More popcorn too.

More cold beers. (My doctor said to stop drinking beers -- so it will be wines from now on instead.)

Good time for a lunch yes. Normally I eat breakfast for lunch, and lunch for dinner, and a cup of soup for supper.

Right now the playoffs look like:

- AFC:

-- BYEs:

--- Patriots

--- Bengals

-- 1st ROUND:

--- Broncos

--- Colts

--- KC

--- Houston/Jets/Steelers

- NFC:

-- BYEs:

--- Carolina

--- Arizona

-- 1st ROUND:

--- Vikes

--- Redskins

--- GB

--- Seattle/Atlanta

2015 NFL Playoff Standings - National Football League

Pittsburg still has the most Superbowl wins -- 6.

Pittsburg also has the most appearances tied with Dallas and New England -- 8.

If Pittsburg wins it this year then they expand their lead to 7 wins and to 9 appearances.

Dallas will NOT make it to the playoffs this year to improve their Superbowl stats. They suck. They may get the first draft pick however.

And even if NE wins it, they will only be tied with Dallas at 5 wins -- but then they take over with 9 appearances.

Hopefully not at the same time.

I have never heard of them.

They look like a redneck band.

So I guess Janet Jackson won't get to show her huge swollen nipples again then ??

Probably not. You would think the NFL has learned their lesson, then again if they ever select Miley Cyrus as some future halftime act all bets are off!

I have never heard of them.

They are actually British and are sort of an alternative rock/pop band.

Their lead singer, Chris Martin, was married to Gwyneth Paltrow for 12 years (they divorced this year).

I have no idea what the definitions of those words are.

Who do they sound like?

ZZ Top ??

Allman Brothers ??

If they wanted a British band that puts on a show, they should have tried Muse.

Of course, all the doomsday themes and paranoia might not play too well with the audience.

This will give me plenty of time to pinch of a loaf.

Not bad actually.

Sounds like the music that gets played in the movie theatres while you are waiting for the show to start.

They are not my favorite band...but I like 'em.

Like I said before, it's kind of tame and yet they are still quite popular. Probably just right for the the Super Bowl.
