Those football fans who didn't see the Thursday night game between the Packers and Lions missed one of the most amazing game endings ever. How about a hail mary pass by Aaron Rodgers after the game was over that occurred because of a penalty on the last play? It won the game after the game was over. Amazing.

As someone who lives in the Detroit area and who is used to the Lions losing in ways that a Hollywood movie would not dare use because they are so unbelievable, this one was something else.

Go and read the rule on facemask penalties and then tell me a flag should have been thrown when you watch what happened with that tackle. A pure BS call. And I say that from a guy who wants the Lions to lose so they clean house at the end of the year and don't keep Caldwell around.

Personally, it didn't look like a face mask to me. It looked like a horse collar. But it was a penalty just the same. Caldwell is not head coach material.

My Tom even yelled out loud! Never under estimate a Hail Mary.

^^Very cute. The rest of that post, however, belongs in a whinery. ;)

From the perspective of the Ref in relation to the players (the only perspective that actually matters) I can see why it was called as a facemask penalty. From the Ref's angle of view it would have looked that way.

The pass and catch were both exceptional, however, they never should have taken place. The officiating in NFL games this year is an absolute joke and they are becoming as detrimental and determinative to the game as NBA refs have become. The face mask call was purely on reputation - Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers. Same play against the Miami Dolphins and Ryan Tannehill at the end of a game wouldn't have been made.

The NFL wants Green Bay in the playoffs.j

That's why I think that bogus facemask call was a blessing in disguise. I'd like to see Caldwell gone, even though I like their coordinators. Unfortunately, if they get rid of Caldwell then they'll probably wave bye bye to the coordinators as well. I wish they would just give the team to Austin right now.

I agree, penalty or not, the hail mary play was a disaster for Caldwell.
