NHL 2015-2016 Season

Geeze, there have been a lot of serious blowout wins in this year, and several in series ending games.

For the conference finals, I'll take:

Pittsburgh over Tampa in 5

St. Louis over San Jose in 7
Wow...do you really think the Penguins are that much better?

Tampa owned Pittsburgh in the regular season but that was mostly before Pittsburgh got on a roll and before Tampa lost Stamkos and Stroman. I think Tampa's been doing it with mirrors so far and neither Detroit nor the Islanders are anywhere near the team that Pittsburgh is and the Penguins easily took care of both the Rangers and Washington, the two teams expected to be fighting it out in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Well, Tampa won the first game, but from the sound of it it was quite the game. Bishop hurt himself in the first period, may be out awhile. 2 major boarding incidents by Tampa players that the league will look at, one almost has to be a suspension(the one to Letang, just no call for that...edit, and then I see Don Cherry's comments, basically blaming the victim while saying he wasn't...), a knee on knee incident as well.

Well this is just a nice story: The Malik Report - Kukla's Korner

Detroit Red Wings forward Riley Sheahan gave one cancer patient a surprise of a lifetime over the weekend.

22-year-old Morgan Behen is battling an inoperable brain tumor. She was invited to attend a special prom in Detroit on Saturday, organized by Wish Upon a Teen.

The non-profit group helps boys and girls battling life-threatening conditions.

Behen wrote a letter, inviting Sheahan to be her date at the dance.

He said yes, but didn't tell her until he showed up to the event.

So hockey fans....you're now the head coach of Penguins.

Who do you start in goal for game 5?

Personally, I'd go with Fleury - he had a pretty good year - he has a fairly decent playoff record, winning one cup and getting to the finals a second time - and I think Murray is suffering from having the Tampa rookie in net out playing him and that adds pressure. Fleury won't feel the same pressure. It has been said, however, that Pittsburgh will expose Fleury during the new Las Vegas team's entry draft, so if that's their intent I'd suspect they'd stay with Murray for the experience going forward.

Fluery. Murry has not been bad, and the reason they are behind is not him, but the need to shake up the team and get them moving is there.

I do not think they will put giving him experience over the desire to get to the finals. Too much money for the team to not do what gives them the best shot, and Pitt has a narrowing window they can really compete due to salary cap flatness. Yeah, Fluery will be exposed in an expansion draft(and probably not taken), but if they think he gives them the best chance to win tomorrow, he will start. The big concern with starting Fluery is the long layoff for him.

So much for Jones' shutout streak - so bad, even James Reimer gets some game action.

Who do you start for Game 6 in Tampa Bay when it's win or go home????

I still think Tampa is doing it with mirrors, so I'd go right back with Fleury who probably used the last game to get the kinks out and I'd expect he will be the star of the game next time out, maybe even getting a shutout. Pittsburgh is clearly, in my view, the superior team but I am surprised it's gone this far.

No way. Unless Murray is injured he should be in goal. He's been absolutely phenomenal in the vast majority of games he's played in this year.
It's been proven time and again that teams can get into Fleury's head and rattle him.

Murray got them this far, let him start game 6. (unless he's injured)

This. I have less confidence, but in an elimination game, I go with experience.

DAMMIT!!!!! Stupid Tampa Bay....

(oh - and the rookie in goal was the right call - by me )

TB may have just lost the series...

The rookie in goal was the correct call, as it actually happened, but I'd challenge that it was the right call. Pretty much didn't need a goalie for Pittsburgh in the first two periods and he did a good job in the third but I doubt Fleury would have given up that game either.

Probably a good idea to have Murray start game 7 because the crowd will get on Fleury faster than Murray if the Pens fall behind early. Actually, Pittsburgh is in good shape going forward to the finals with two good options in goal.

Last game is in Pittsburgh.
I doubt the Penguins fans would be stupid enough to try to rattle their own goalie in a game 7. But they are Pittsburgh fans so....

Congrats to the Sharks and their fans - they've been a really good franchise through their short history, unlike some in the southern US. Couldn't lose out there for me, seeing either team finally make it to the finals after so many years of disappointments. Good to see the Bay Area's fans have a team making the NHL finals considering how disappointed they are about the Warriors woes. Good also to see two league stars like Thorton and Marleau - who I think were drafted 1-2 in 1996 - finally make it to a finals after long, great careers.

Will be a fun final if the Penguins win tonight.

AHHHHH....BALLS!!!! :censored

I can literally walk into Pennsylvania from my house. Probably take about 30 minutes of walking.

I'm seriously hoping San Jose can win this year's SC.

Seriously.

PLEASE!!!!

I'm sure you don't have to guess what I'm thinking this morning.

Nice to see Kessel get some recognition after the media drove him out of Toronto as a scapegoat for a lousy team. Would love to see him win the Cup and win the Conn Smythe trophy as the MVP of the playoffs. For a guy who scores better than a point a game in all the playoffs he's been in, he got a lot of grief here. The Toronto media is famous for turning the fans against certain players and running them out of town. And one particular prick does it on a regular basis - he's now trying to attack a couple of Raptors players.
