Welp folks, it's that time of year again.

Some teams already have rookies reporting for training camp as of yesterday, and almost every team will be into camp by next week. For all intents and purposes, the new league year is upon us in a tangible fashion.

Here's a link to teams training camp dates.

Should be a fun season with many storylines. What are some of the things you all are hoping to see going into the season. For myself as a Skins fan, it'll be interesting to see how some of the young guys do competing on our line. That, and it's a make or break year for Griffin. He needs to have a strong training camp, something he's never really had since coming into town.

Guys like RGIII and Cam Newton that have so much talent but for whatever reason just can't get it together, but guys like Tom Brady that were basically an "also-ran" in the draft have unbelievable careers.

I'll be at the practice games in Spartanburg, SC between the Panthers and the Dolphins on August 19th and 20th. Looking forward to the melee.

Still trying to wrap my mind around Jason Pierre Paul blowing his finger off.

Sure gonna effect his game...and the Jints are hurting in all departments, so they do not need hurt at a position of strength.

Gonna be another long season for us is my guess.

Lions D allegedly looking good without Suh. O line and running game should be improved. Offense more familiar with Lombardi's playbook. Yep, I'm drinking the Lion's kool aid again. :drink

Lost some bets last year and the year before because of the Lions. Thought they were a better team.

Good riddance to Suh. Dolphins problem now. One of the few players in the league I truly dislike.

Hard to like Suh. Seems like a true dickwad.

Cam is actually doing pretty well. Although I get where you're coming from.

I'll go out on a limb and pick my Hawks for the SB win. ha ha

Yeah. But a very sturdy limb it is.

Question, if I may: Why do you guys need 13 men to get the job done? ;)

I wouldn't put Cam in that same category. I think he's been showing steady improvement. He's still young and I think is on the right trajectory.

The person I'd place with Griffin would actually be Kaepernick. He's been slowly trending the wrong direction, albeit at a less extreme angle than Griffin. I think Kaepernick has been buffered by a better coach, defense, and line around him than Griffin's had; much of which is gone now. I think both guys are going to need to show big this season. It's make or break for Griffin in terms of his future in Washington and I think he only has one more shot after this at possibly legitimately competing immediately for a starting job, and that's questionable. Kaepernick having a bad year likely makes the following year that type of situation for him.

Still trying to wrap my mind around Jason Pierre Paul blowing his finger off.

Such an absolutely crazy story. Feel for the guy....but don't feel for Mara and his team. **** Mara.

I think the Lions D will be different and can be on par with what they had with Suh for the near future. Ngata is a good short term replacement and I REALLY liked Jordan Phillips coming out. But despite his issues, Suh was a beast that will be hard to replace.

So basically out on a limb the size of a redwood ;)

I think it's Seattle, Green Bay, then everyone else in the NFC this year. There's going to be some teams that get hot, like the Cowboys did last year, but those are the only two clear cut teams that would make me honestly surprised if they did poorly. Every other team has some significant legit questions in my mind.

----

I've got no hopes for my Skins to even be a contender this season. What I want to see is the beginning of McCloughan's build. I want to see Scherff be solid. I want to see some of our mid to late round picks flash. I want to see Terrance Knighton beast mode as our first true NT and earn a paycheck next year. I want to see Griffin improve and show he's able to come out of this slump, or perform at such an abysmal level it becomes ABUNDANTLY CLEAR we have to move on. I'm also curious about two of our guys from last years draft....seeing if Trent Murphy can actually be an every down starting OLB and if Spencer Long can steal a guard spot solidly.

As for the Bears I dont think they will be good this year, all I wish for is that they at least beat Green Bay once and get back to having a decent defense- anything more would be a bonus!

Darwin award !!!

There's another Darwin award -- passing near the goal line.

Me hopes to see the Chiefs win a play-off game. Hahahahahahaha (laughter tears stream down her face).

That's okay because my adopted team is HOT right now...can you hustle like Russell?! :)

Seahawk ownage.

I will be surprised if New England repeats, what with all the sanctions handicaps against them. They could do it, but it would surprise me.

Meanwhile there is no reason to suspect that Seattle will get any smarter. Have they found a new coach yet?

Denver is dying on the vine.

San Francisco still chokes as always but now they wait until the playoffs to do it.

There is plenty of room for a new dark horse to become a white knight next year.

Seattle won the SB in 14, lost on the last play of 15 and you suggest Carroll is a ****ty coach? That's an incredibly stupid thing to say.

300 million sports fans are all saying it across the USA as well. So I am in good company.

I'm looking forward to my Steelers getting back in action and seeing how their young team with a lot of offensive power develops going forward. Hoping Le'veon Bell comes back better than ever and has a full, healthy season right through the playoffs.

Most interesting, however, may be seeing how Keith Butler does taking over from the legend, Dick Lebeau, now that he's in charge of the entire defense. Hopefully he can bring his excellence with the linebackers to the entire squad.

The division and their schedule are both tough, as usual, but it should be another fun year.

Hope everyone else enjoys the season too!!

I don't get that one either, River. I am not a big fan of Pete Carroll, but to call him whatever was asterisked out...is out-of-line. The guy is top notch. Been a winner...much more often than a loser.

Well then Carroll had a moment of pure insanity in the last few seconds of the game.

Everybody on the team thinks so.

Everyone in the Nation thinks so.

Only in Europe, Asia and Africa where they don't understand American football does Carroll retain any such credibility as you give him.

He called a play.

IF it had worked, he'd have been called a genius...the play would have been called a brilliant move.

It failed...and now he is a something that has to be asterisked out...and the play was a dunce move.

Monday morning quarterbacking is small time.

I am not a Seattle fan...nor a Pete Carroll fan...but he is a great coach.

Carroll takes the blame. But did he know the call?

Anyone that talks in absolutes loses the argument every time. ha ha

Apparently these folks didn't get the memo.

It seems to me that it was the genius part that he was thinking would bring him fame but without weighing the risk.

The risk bit him in the butt.

Risk minimization is something that we all each always need to keep in mind --

- whenever we walk down the street

- whenever we get on a bike

- whenever we get in a car

- and so forth continually.

He had a momentary lapse apparently.

One of the dumbest deflections I've seen yet here.
