European Cup[W:28]

In order to praise one you don't have to denigrate the other. Northern Ireland and Iceland both deserve great credit, as do Slovakia and Wales. They have all qualified from groups with far stronger, far larger, far richer footballing nations in them. I hope they all enjoy their French summer.

I think you troll for the fun of it, don't you?

Norn's group was hard? It's point of principle here.. there are 8 other national teams in 3rd place who would have qualified in that group with ease. Hell, Scotland could have qualified in that group. There is no freaking way Norn qualifies in any other group.

Easy group aside, cos they only have a couple million people to select from and us Fenians poach a lot of them.

Only a couple million? Island as a whole is 5.4 million. Both sides pick and choose who they want. Players have left for both sides. Biggest steal Ireland ever had was Aiden McGeady. That was from Scotland and wasn't even a "steal" as McGeady grew up Irish and so forth.

It's not like Ireland as a whole is dripping with talent.

And the day came.

The Serbian flag is freely waved and done so officially outside of the stadium. So much for "Albanian intolerance."

Now Serbia plays against Albania in Elbasan city in Albania. The game just started, hope it is just a good game without trickery!

Well lets see..

Albania drone arrest before Serbia Euro 2016 qualifier - BBC News

As the team bus arrived in Tirana, stones were thrown and a window was cracked.

Oh great tolerance there..

Police arrested the 33-year-old suspect and three other men, saying they had found a Zastava pistol and several cartridges, as well as 36 tickets for Thursday's match.

So the guy and his friends who were responsible for the attack in Serbia, were arrested by the Albanian police on weapons charges... and it was looking like he was planning something at the match since he had 36 tickets.

And then there was of course this..

Only a few dozen Serb supporters will be allowed into the stadium for Thursday's match, which will have a heavy police presence.

Only a few dozen?

No both Albanian and Serbia should have been kicked out of the qualifying.. they are a disgrace to world football.

Not hard no, but not the easiest. Wales' group opponents had an average FIFA ranking of 80, N. Ireland's group opponents' average ranking was 47. Iceland's was 62. Austria's was 69. So no, N. Ireland didn't have a difficult group, but clearly it was harder than the group your favoured Iceland qualified from, and not one of the easiest by any stretch.

(Edit: Oops! Better point out that England's opponents had a FIFA average ranking of 91. Just before anyone accuses me of partisanship.)

Wales seal their place. Leading to one of those peculiar situations where the losing side is celebrating harder in the stadium of the winning side. Still, Bosnia's hopes are alive.

Great for them! They are celebrating qualification for the Euros AND for the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals despite losing the football to Bosnia and the rugby to Australia. Funny old world. Sport.

We made it! :) We qualified!

Albania won 3 nil over Armenia!

We shall see. There might be an investigation into match fixing on the final Albanian game.... the accusations are out there, coming from Albanian of all places. It would not surprise me one bit if it was true.

And yes Albania should have been punished big time for the stunt they pulled in Serbia.... an Albanian fan starts crowd trouble, and it is the Serbs that get punished? Come on..

May you elaborate how exactly you feel about this please? :)

Okay, finally made it to the Euros. Credit to Bosnian fans who applauded us after the match.

There was no doubt in my mind that Ireland would make it. Harsh Pen given but France will enjoy the Irish fans come June.

Well, with me saying Norn should have tipped you off that I support Ireland and Ireland. Ireland, Scotland, Poland and Germany was a hard (or the hardest) group.

Having one strong team in your group does not make that the hardest group. I'd say that was one of the weaker groups; only one team in the FIFA ranking Top 30. Group A, now that was a tough group.

Ireland squeezed through I see, they can make up the numbers I guess because I struggle to see them winning any games. Awful team playing horrible Martin O'Neil brand of football.

Well tbh, technically that's more a Brian Clough style of football. It's making the most of moderate available talent. If you haven't got top notch players, you have to use tactics that may not please the purists, but which can produce results against superior opposition. It won Forest back-to-back European Cups after all.
