European Cup[W:28]

Pete, I guess you don't watch too much football or have few info about Albania.

There were teams like Germany, Portugal, Denmark, Netherlands, Greece which played in Albania and always the tickets were shared at the correct percentage.
There is no single kind of problem during a match in Albania football's history. I don't know where you come up with that " it is dangerous as hell traveling to Albania to watch football." It's so 180 degree wrong.

Years ago Greece played here. Albania won. And a 19 years old was killed in Athens because he was celebrating the victory of Albania.
Nothing happened here to any Greek.

Few months ago, Serbian flag was raised in Tirana. Nothing happened.

This is a sad day for people that believe in tolerance. What we did is just wanted to play with our flags on. We pushed on with Serbian intolerance, we provided innovative solutions to expose them to our national symbols (regardless of their hatred of Albanians) and not get hurt, and in turn UEFA decides to reward the intolerating Serbs and punish us with 0 points.

It nearly always was the case that if fans break in the stadium that the rival party wins. Sadly, this seems only to work when UEFA leaders are less biased (even if Serbs in this case behaved like intolerating hateful animals).

Punishment is out.. Albanian lose the game 3-0 and Serbia gets 3 points deducted and has to play the next two home games behind closed doors. Both countries FA have to pay 100k each in fines.

Personally it is more than I expected, but not nearly enough in my opinion.

Yeah,

Once you are known for a fascist little pig that you are, whatever you say from then onwards just proves my point. In other words these hateful positions against Albanians were hurtful a few days back when there was a potential for friendly exchanges. Not now when you continuously behave like a fascist.

Now you are just a common asshole. No biggie.

You see it fair enough to equal both sides??

Yes both sides should have been punished. Albania refused to play, and were involved in the whole drone thing. Serbia failed to secure the stadium correctly and protect the Albanian players. So yes it was fair up to a point... but considering the two sides history then no it was not enough, especially when it comes to the Serbs.

Albania refused to play because Serbs could not secure the stadium. Usually in other countries not securing a stadium would guarantee a victory for the other team. I suspect the UEFA made a bias decision this time to assign points to Serbs even though it is their fault that they did not secure the stadium for a fair game to play with Albanians.

That Albanians operated the drone for the time being is just an assumption. It could be anyone. There were two close calls for Albanians to score in the game. The drone could have been operated from Serbs in order to end the game, blame us, and use their friendly UEFA chief to make a decision that favors them in bias unfairly. Both these assumptions are equal opinions for the time being.

This is not over. I hear an appeal is going to be made from the Albanian team on the grounds of being blamed for operating the drone without evidence to support such claims.

To think, all of this over a flag man! Over a symbol that represents us! A sign to say that we were all there! Even going around intolerance and hate with innovation gets you punished in Europe! I bet this would never happen in USA!

Albania refused to play because Serbs could not secure the stadium.

Refusing to play the game is against the rules. Only the referee can call off the game because of security issues. The referee could have demanded the stadium be cleared and the game resumed. The Albanians refused to play. Hence the Albanians loose the game 0-3.

LOL no it would not. Do you even know anything about football? Lax security is usually punished by a fine and no fans at the next game(s), which is exactly what happened.

However refusing to play a game that is an automatic defeat to the ones refusing to play.

LOL now we are in conspiracy theory town..... you are almost worst than the Serbs.

Fine, but that still means you will loose the game. The fine is for the drone thing.

There was no flag, it was a banner with a political theme.. and this is always banned at all international games... and the Albanians know this.

Albania refused to play for many reasons concerning their security.
It's a shame to the referee who asked players to play at a time the security forces (supposed to defend the players) used violence against them.
Still, the drone remain to the responsibility of Serbia since there was no Albanian citizen allowed to enter Serbia, not to mention the stadium.
Albania does not have a history with Serbia. (Kosovo does).

There were many rules broken by Serbia which were not taken in consideration where most important was racism.
Ivan Bogdanov burned Albanian flag in Italy during Italy-Serbia match. Uefa awarded Italy a 3-0 win over Serbia after the 12 October 2010 match, which was stopped in the seventh minute with the score 0-0.
Uefa also ordered Serbia to play its next home match against Northern Ireland, on 25 March, in an empty stadium.
Bogdanov (who wasn't supposed to enter any stadium, was there in Serbia-Albania match) received jail sentence of three years and three months in Italy for burning a flag which hasn't to do anything with the match. During the last match was burned the NATO one, and few days later the Albanian one.

Of course Albania is a small country and we do not have a big country like Russia backing us.
But putting both sides on equal sentence is so epic ridiculous.

The message that UEFA gave is a shame.

Based on the rules and talking about football, the game should have been stopped at the 00:08 where the flag "Kosovo is Serbia" appeared on stadium.
Or at
or 12’40″ – when Lila was on ground after a ball taken on face and a firework throwed at him.
or 14’29″ – 1st throw of smoky
or 24’33″ – Raising nationalistic Greek flag to provoce albanians. Burning NATO flag.
or 35’11″ – Smoke throwed against, Agolli, while he was taking a corner. Object throwed against him. Match suspended for few seconds only.
or 40’45″ – Water bottle throwed against Balaj.
or 40’58″ – Serbian fans trying to get in field. Stopped by security forces.
or 41’09″ – Smoke and fireworks on field.
or 41’13″ – Smoke and fireworks on field, AGAIN. Match suspended for few seconds.

and the apocalypse start.

I have nothing more to say on this.

My position is that the UEFA decision is biased. The decision favors Serbs unfairly since they did not secure the stadium for Albanians to play. Refusing to play in unsafe conditions is the right call. Leaving the game prevented Albanians from being injured more seriously from Serbs.

There is no evidence that the drone was operated from Albanians. Whoever did may have done it in order to promote tolerance by exposing the Serbian fans to the fan made Albanian flag (ridiculously banned from UEFA).

Here is Platini vowing that a zero tolerance policy is being put in place against racism:

UEFA leader Platini reaffirms zero tolerance on racism - YouTube

Yet if one were to push a fan made flag that challenges intolerence and racism with a drone of tolerance, then Platini hypocritically changes sides and comments that the drone could carry bombs:

Platini fears drones could drop bombs on pitches - YouTube

Albania gets disqualified instead!

Perhaps he should study what drones can and cannot do before making stupid remarks. As it is it seems he saw too many South Park movies:

The Magic Bush - Full Episode - Season 18 - Ep 05 | South Park Studios

The Court of Arbitration for Sports reversed the UEFA's biased decision to reward Serbs for their intolerance as mentioned in the above posts:

Serbs still believing that there is nothing wrong with harassing and beating opponent players on your own stadium believe that this is an "unjust" decision instead! So much so that a dialogue was made between the two countries' PM's (as if they have nothing better to do!).

Albania, Serbia Leaders Spar Over Football Ruling :: Balkan Insight

“Suppeeer, this is what means to have European justice, three point for the red-and-black football team,” Rama wrote on Twitter in reference to Albania's national colours. - Edi Rama, Albanian Prime Minister

“Don’t worry Edi Rama, we will win the return game, without help and with no drone, in the heart of Tirana’s stadium. Until then, until we meet again.” - Alexander Vucic, Serbian Prime Minister

“The game will be played in Shkodra [in northern Albania], where you are welcome to be my guest of honor and we will applaud those who win together,” Edi Rama concluded.

I wish this was only about games rather than Serbian ethnic intolerance. They can come on our lands with their flags, why was ours prohibited in theirs?

Now Serbs may provoke either Albanian fans or players in order to pin this around somehow

And the day came.

The Serbian flag is freely waved and done so officially outside of the stadium. So much for "Albanian intolerance."

Now Serbia plays against Albania in Elbasan city in Albania. The game just started, hope it is just a good game without trickery!

We lost :(

But at least we showed them how to be good tolerant hosts in football games VS being savages like they were when we played in Serbia.

'We' lost? I thought you were 'Dardanian', not Albanian.

I want to focus on the joy of beating the world champions. But this is the most scottish thing ever....

It's ****E being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the ****ing Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We're ruled by effete arseholes. It's a ****E state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and ALL the fresh air in the world won't make any ****ing difference!

A last-minute equalliser FFS! Still, we should have been more decisively ahead We'll just have to console ourselves with the rugby.

Both Irelands looked a bit good!

poor old Scotland

Sort of went from hoping Scotland don't get a result to hoping they won when Ireland went ahead against zee Germans. Not least it would benefit Ireland's outright qualification hopes, but also that Euro's might have resembled some pre-20th century British Isles representation in football.

Norn and Wales aren't getting enough credit. Both are playing exciting football for the neutral, hope it continues to France.

I got nothing more to add to this.

Will see how the match between Albania and Armenia turn out..

Commiserations to you, Manc. I was hoping Scotland would beat Poland and that Germany would beat Ireland, not because I don't wish the Irish well, but because I would love to have seen all four of the home nations competing in France next year. I'm not sure that's ever happened, has it?

I didn't see the match, but I have seen a couple of recent Scottish games and they really haven't been a bad side.

Yes, console yourself with the fact that you still have reason to watch the Rugby.

Why should Norn get credit? Look at it's group. Iceland has 100% better cred going into Euros.

In order to praise one you don't have to denigrate the other. Northern Ireland and Iceland both deserve great credit, as do Slovakia and Wales. They have all qualified from groups with far stronger, far larger, far richer footballing nations in them. I hope they all enjoy their French summer.

I think you troll for the fun of it, don't you?

Easy group aside, cos they only have a couple million people to select from and us Fenians poach a lot of them.
