As a life long Cubs fan I know how pathetic they are and this was reaffirmed last night April 08 watching the Reds play the Cardinals, two of baseballs best franchises. Player after player on both teams the comments about their individual achievements were never ending. When you watch the Cubs little or nothing is said because the players are simply not good. It is that simple. New ownership comes in talking bring a champ to the north side but such talk soon fades away and is never heard from again. Yet, decade after decade the fans fill Wrigley. How can any franchise in any sport remain so pathetic and still stay in the city for more than 100 hundred years? Beats me but I would not want to be a part of a group that wants to remove them from the north side.

When I went to Fenway, everyone was focused on the game. When I went to Wrigley, nobody was. In my experience (1 game in 2009), people don't go to Cubs games because of the team, they go to Wrigley because of "baseball experience," which is a lot like a singles bar at many Cubs games.

One thing though-- blaming your impotence on a poor goat? Really? I cannot pull for a team when the fan base blames a farm animal for it's drought, even one as long as the Cubbies have endured. It's the team guys. Not the goat.

Maybe I'm just jealous you guys have such a beautiful and historic ballpark while my team plays in a broken sewer in a rather, um, colorful part of Oakland (which, I will say, I will take over a tax-funded and overpriced boombox any day...another thread for that though).

But hey, it could be worse. NY Knicks fans--they'll sell out a stadium just to listen to themselves complain about how much they just paid to watch a very mediocre team!

I have only two words for that:

Vancouver

Canucks

Leafs?

I did say Vancouver right?

The Leafs play in a city called Toronto.....over 3,000 miles from me.

When talking about crappy teams the Leafs should be the first thing that comes to mind.
All Canadian Hockey fans know that

*edit*
Actually not just hockey. Laughing at Toronto is something that binds all Canadians together.
Whether it be their crack smoking mayor, their need to call the army for a little snow or their sports teams it`s all good

The Blue Jays had a pretty good thing going in the early 1990s including back-to-back World Series titles. Then again, Montreal was good too.

That is, before the 1994 strike killed Canadian baseball.

Oh--and the Raptors are going to the playoffs. The Raptors.

The Toronto shame extends all across Canada. Vancouver can't even be good at failure.

Canadians dont care about basketball and the blue jays suck!

actually, Toronto is NOT a city on my radar in any way. I know they have a hockey team even the Canucks can beat.

but I have to wonder why anyone would think a tried and true Vancouverite, a world class city would even think at all about a crumbling metropolis on a polluted lake?

I mean, Buffalo has more going for it than it's Canadian suburb....it's where Torontonians shop.

I was under the impression you were calling the Canucks a crappy team. I was just setting the record straight :)

You know how you can tell it's spring? Because the Leafs are out.

No, and that is THE point of it.

They are a fantastic team that has never been given the last pieces of the puzzle to get the job done.

They are the greatest disappointers in the league, all that talent, how many Olympic Gold medalists on that team? And it's a litany of years in the cold, and then decades one just THAT FAR from the promised land...

It is Lucy's football on a massive social scale, and we, the residents of undoubtably Canada's most beautiful city are too hockey illiterate to realize it. The Vancouver Canucks sell out EVERY game, they are the most profitable franchise in Canada, the home of the most profitable NHL franchises and we get chase out of the play offs by the likes of San Jose' where people don't even play the sport, or Calgary with one tenth the population, or humiliated by Minnesota after wining our division, or blowing a two game, away game lead to Detroit.

After 45 years of various people making millions off the team, it's time, eh?

Only in the minds of Torontonians.

Hate to tell you but there is life after Young Street and a whole lot of Canada simply does not care.

What I find entertaining is you go way out to say Newmarket and people say It`s all Toronto and they people there are all "no we arent Toronto we hate TO your thinking of Markham", theyre part of Toronto. Then you talk to the people of Markham and they be all "We're not part of Toronto your thinking of Milikin." You go to Milikin and they deny being part of Toronto and claim your talking about North York. Go to North York and they say "Nuh-uh were not really part of Toronto your thinking of East York"
This works with pretty much any direction you choose for TO. Everyone is embarrased to say they are part of Toronto.

Yeah it is a shame Vancouver is a beautiful if rather expensive city. Especially when you consider that the Ducks a team named after a Disney movie has won the Stanley cup.

Hamilton has more going for it. Dive city but pretty good people- far lower douchebag ratio than Hogtown.

Oh, ****, how do I forget?

That other Oakland coliseum team...talk about a bad joke
