Since a number of suggestions have been made in various threads for Dan Snyder, it occurred to me that Dan Snyder probably deserves a thread, devoted to ideas for Dan.

Certainly Dan Snyder is more successful than most of us posting on this board, but Dan generates strong ideas, and the Redskins have many loyal fans. Of course, some Redskins fans are On-Again, and Off-Again. Some Redskins fans have been known to yell "Boos" at games.

Dan and his wife probably give more to charity than most of us who post on Debate Politics. So it is with some humility, that I start this thread for expression of suggestions and criticism for Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins.

I've been a Washington Redskins fan for a very long time.... a little over 30 years now, despite never having lived in that area of the country. When Dan bought the team in 1999 I was probably one of his most vocal supporters. He's a life-long Redskins fan and someone who remembers the (Burgandy and) Golden Yeras of this franchise personally.

In the early years of his time as Redskins owner I would compare him to Al Davis, the former owner of the Raiders in that both were more than willing to butt heads with the NFL League establishment. They have their own visions of how things should work and what they are going to do with their team. Hell, Al Davis SUED the NFL; not something you're likely to ever see again.

Unforatunately it would appear that the NFL as a League and his fellow owners have worn Dan down over the last handful of years and that's why I've found it much more difficult to stand by him in recent years. He's becoming nothing more than another Robert Kraft-esque "Yes" Man for the League, just like most of the owners are. He's now putting the good of the LEAGUE ahead of the good of HIS TEAM and that seriously disappoints me.

We'll see how things go in the next year or two, but he's really running out of mulligans so far as I'm concerned.

Stop signing the sexiest guy available, and listen to your football people. Let the GM and coaches run the football stuff.

That's not just players either. Snyder has a history of hiring the sexiest name available to coach (Spurrier, Shanahan...). Get a guy who was a great QB coach or OC with a record of developing QBs to develop RGIII.

As I recall, some years ago, Art Modell suggested that Dan Snyder did not fully realize the importance of Chemistry with coaches, players and management, and how tht helps get the best effort out of players, coaches and staff.

During the 2013 season Radio Commentator Chris Cooley, former Redskins Tight End, pointed out how some Redskin players were not putting forth their best effort in games.

The chemistry with Shanahan had deteriorated, before the decision was made to fire Shanahan, at the end of the 2013 Season.

Now there is a chance to build new chemistry, and the owner can play an important role, in giving recognition to exceptional effort.

While spot on. Dan and 'Skins and Cowboys got screwed by the NFL over the lack of Salary cap a few years ago when the front loaded contracts. I think Dan isn't a yes man per say but goes with the tide on certain issues others he tells the NFL and others to go you know what.

Now like Tigger I've been a Redskins fan for almost 3 decades. I started young (age 5) and in their hay day under Gibbs. But these are few of my suggestions.

1) Move back to D.C.
2) Get rid of the seats under the 2nd tier, they are horrible views.
3) Get rid of Fed Ex sponsorship
4) Lower Parking prices and ticket prices to match 2005 levels.

His record as a owner is 104-136.

'Nuff said.

He sucks as an NFL owner in terms of wins-losses.

My advice to him?

1) Let the people of Washington vote (say in an online newspaper poll) as to whether to change the nickname or not. If they vote 'no'...then it's done and you look good for asking them. If they vote 'yes'...then change it and you look good for listening to them.

2) BUTT OUT OF YOUR TEAM'S FOOTBALL OPERATIONS. Clearly you know dick about football.

The above is NOT in order of importance.

Don't mortgage your future for a one-legged quarterback.

Dan Snyder needs to let the football people take care of the football business and stop sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong. It's his team, but until he butts out, they'll never win anything.
