Jameis Winston

Naw? Really? I know that but he has already been convicted in the media. He may as well declare for the draft now.

He's a freshman. I also expect charges; this puts FSU in the championship with a backup QB. We'll see.

A DNA analysis completed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Tuesday confirmed that DNA provided by Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston matched the sample taken from the underwear of a woman who has accused him of sexual battery...

The DNA match alone does not prove that Winston, a leading Heisman Trophy candidate, sexually assaulted the woman, as the accuser's family claimed in a statement released by a Tampa-based attorney on Wednesday. But it does indicate that Winston, who has yet to talk to Tallahassee police or the state attorney investigating the case, had his DNA associated with the accuser on Dec. 7, 2012, when the accuser claimed she was sexually assaulted.

It's not looking good for him at all.

He was supposed to be charged Monday, this week. Now the police say they are figuring things out and it will take a "week or two" to decide. Any normal person accused of rape with semen on the accusers underwear (whom is a stranger), would be arrested quicklike- right?

Even if his two alibi/witnesses (what, were they in the room with him having sex?) are rock solid and exonerating (as his attorney claims), I figure he still should have been arrested.

I think his footballing and fame definitely shouldn't be a buffer for his actions. You however, have the FSU Florida game coming up calling into question your motives.

lol

That was true last week. I think FSU could beat us with only second stringers. I'm just hoping it's not a total blowout.

Adios, Winston. He's toast.

Speaking of toast, if Florida blocks like they did against Georgia Southern, the Florida - FSU game will be another one for the record books. Sorry eco, but I think it'll be ugly, Winston or not.

There are too many holes in her stories. I don't even know if he's gonna be charged.

I hope not. An Alabama-Ohio State game will be even less entertaining than Alabama-Notre Dame was.

Link?

I'd rather Ohio than FSU with a backup.

Well, do I have to remind you about the "he was five-foot-nine" thing?

He's gonna pull the Kobe defense and walk away clean as a whistle. You just have to hope that he doesn't get charged. Although, there is a loophole that still allows him to stay on the team, even if charged with a felony.

That was before she identified Winston in January. That was before DNA tests.

What other 'holes' in her story?

That joke might be reaching a bit.

Ok, fine.

Anyway, I have no doubt that he hit it. Most claims of rape are to explain away consentual sex that became regret after the fact.

This guy...just does not look like a rapist. His personality really defies the claim. Now could he be all playful and smiles and be some deviant, malevolent asswipe under the surface? Sure. I just can't connect those dots.

The article has some new details that make one wonder about the accuser's story, or at least the chances of getting a conviction.

Search warrants in the case were released before Meggs' announcement and indicate the woman told police she was raped at an apartment after a night of drinking. In the warrant, the accuser says she and friends had shots at a local bar and her "memory is very broken from that point forward." Meggs said that toxicology reports show the accuser had a blood alcohol level of .04 and that there was no evidence of drugs, including what are commonly referred to as date rape drugs.

According to the warrants, the accuser says she remembers being in a cab with a man and going into an apartment before she was raped. Meggs said investigators could not find the cab driver, the attempt made much more difficult by the time that had elapsed before his office began investigating.

After that, the accuser said she remembers the suspect dressing her, putting her on a scooter and dropping her off at an intersection, but she had no idea where the alleged rape occurred.

"Her recall of the events of that night have been moving around quite a bit," Meggs said. Meggs described the accuser as being as forthcoming as she could be but that she did want to protect "herself, her family, her own name," which he said is not uncommon in sexual assault investigations. The accuser's lack of recall proved to be another critical aspect in the state's decision not to move forward, Meggs said.

Meggs said he didn't think prosecutors could put the accuser on the stand and "count on her to prove elements of a crime."

After praising Meggs for his investigation, Jansen said he wished Meggs had spoken about the affidavits from witnesses who refuted the accuser's claims. He said that three other men were present in the apartment where the accuser claimed she was raped. When asked whether those were also football players, he said that was a "good bet."
