If I had to take a guess on why Ray left it is this: 1) The signing of Jason Terry, 2) His relationship with Rondo, 3) the fact it looked like the Heat would be favored to win another ring.

Will he even start? Somehow I doubt Miami's willing to play that small on a nightly basis.

- Colonel Paul YinglingNobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.
Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.
All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

The Heat play small at some point in most all games. Signing Ray Allen will provide an opportunity for more rotations and rest in every game, without a drop in veteran talent, especially for LJ and DWade. The result is having fresher legs for all at the end of the season as long as all stay healthy.
Heat fans should feel good about this acquisition.![]()
