    Re: The NHL 2011-2012 Thread

Nobody serves themselves a bigger piece of humble pie than a Philly team, and in the case of the Flyers, they appear to be the greediest bunch of M F'ers in town.

Flyers had the Penguins on the ice, with their skate blades firmly across the Penguins necks, and rather than putting away their opponent, they helped the Penguins up, gave them a nice 2 x 4 with a rusty nail in it, turned their backs to the Penguins and knelt down with their eyes closed.

    Most pathetic.

Only thing positive I can say is that the Flyers didn't resort to playing dirty. They didn't send out the goon squad and attempt to do anything unprofessional.

I'm also very glad the Penquins sat back and laughed once the score reached 10-3 and stopped trying to score more goals. I think the way the Flyers were playing the Penguins could have easily gotten to 15 goals had they not had some level of mercy in their souls.

    Holtby, I love you.

What a game by the young goalie. Wow.

I swear, that place would've rioted if that last goal went in after the clock didn't run the first few seconds.

Didn't watch the game, but sweet win considering the pressure to get a win and even the series and the fact that we are undermanned.

Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

The kid makes the series a lot more fun to watch. But yeah that clock at then end, what the hell. I was reading something and listening by that point and I was like surely I do not read a paragraph and half in under 9 seconds.

Detroit may not make it past the first round, but at least Chicago won't either, and is losing to a much weaker team.

Pitt or Philly tonight? I'm kinda looking at this game as the do or die game for Philly.

Flyers have owned the Penquins in the new Pitt arena. Owned.

However - after the EPIC stomping in Philly I wonder if the momentum has already changed?

Surely if the Penguins win tonight, all bets are off and the series will be Pittsburgh's to lose.

    Biggest questions for Flyers:

    1) goalie
    2) defense
    3) goalie
    4) defense
    5) goalie

Too bad they can't both lose the series.
