[R.I.P.]Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen Shot - North Carolina[W:27]

Re: Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen Shot - North Carolina

I've met him and his family. I can't say I know them, but it's still hitting close to home. Maybe because I have good friends that were close to him, and are taking this pretty hard right now. Also, I may be a bit more invested than I would normally be because he reminded me of a friend I lost in combat overseas, and Tim was lost here at home from domestic combat and there's not a damned thing I can do about either one.

It's sad. It hurts. And it infuriates me that actions like this are becoming more acceptable and even applauded within a growing portion of our society.

Not only that he didn't deserve to be killed, his wife and child did not deserve to lose their husband and Dad. He was serving our community. All of us, regardless of the city, or county, or state taht we live within. When he was attacked and murdered, we were all attacked, and part of US was murdered.

I hate bad people, especially bad cops.

I have hung around cops, had cops for friends, and our local county Sheriff has been a close friend for almost 30 years.
He knows my wife and kids, and they are very fond of him, as he is a good man.
I have seen him fire deputies over the years for doing bad **** (nothing involving bad shoots), and he is a fair and honest leader of his department.
The reason he is running for another term this year is that I hammered him for 2 years to run.

I know not all cops are like my friend, but I am smart enough not to paint all cops (or people) with a broad and ignorant brush, unlike reinoe.

I was actually pulled over for speeding the Friday before the holiday weekend by a state trooper.
I was carrying my weapon, and notified the trooper as required, and apologized for the slight speeding.
He gave me a warning, thanked me for my honesty, and we chatted for several minutes.
I treated him with respect, and received the same in return.

Hateful people like reinoe will always have problems with people in life, especially cops, for acting like he does here on DP.

You reap what you sow, period.

I am sorry that he insulted you and your friend here - there is no excuse for that.

Moderator's Warning:
This thread is about an officer shot in the line of duty. Any more comments that that are made in regards to "he probably had it coming" or anything that is not related to this officers death will be considered baiting from here on out. You want to talk about that then make your own thread. As this officer has died I am putting this thread under R.I.P tag protections. Any violations of the rules before this in-thread are still open to normal infractions/thread banning provided they do not pertain to the R.I.P rules. Any post made after this one will be under R.I.P rules. Do not violate them.

It is unnatural to charge into an unknown and potentially dangerous situation when everyone else is running away from it. Police officers do that thousands of times each day for people they don't even know. Prayers for his family, friends and co-workers.

Re: Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen Shot - North Carolina

I just read that and it seems that they have two women in custody associated with the shooter but don't have the shooter himself yet.

That's correct. One of the women went on local TV news, admitted that the guy had been staying at her house, and was subsequently arrested for accessory after the fact.

Last I heard tonight, the guy's still on the loose.

They got him: Fenner arrested in Rhode Island

Three arrested as acessories (sic) in officers death

More details emerge from Fenner's arrest in Rhode Island

Looks like he was shot by someone, probably the police, while still in Shelby. There's now five other people (if I counted correctly) that have been arrested for helping this bastard to elude capture.

Yesterday, Officer Tim Brackeen was brought home to Shelby from Charlotte: A hero's last ride. There's a number of pictures in this article that are heart-wrenching.

This will be my last update to this thread. Thank you to you all for caring.
