North Carolina Governor Signs Bill Banning Cities From Protecting LGBT People

May people today will agree with you....except devout Christians and Moslems.

Im a non-christian living in the bible belt.

Trust me.... Im aware. lol.

Trust me.... Im aware. lol.

Just get a JESUS SAVES T-Shirt and they will shut up and leave you alone. Even non religious people will give you a wide berth.

Nothing bugs me more than people trying to tell me about their own religion.

Once in Nebraska I was building a wood frame for a cat house and some stranger I never saw before drove up and started talking carpentry. OK, fine, I like to meet new friends.

Then later he started saying he was going to tell me about another carpenter from 2,000 years ago.

I stopped him right there, and asked him to keep his beliefs to himself.

His reply was my soul was in danger and needed saving.

My reply was, whatever my soul does and is, is between me and God, and no one else.

I am sure he left thinking I was a heathen going to burn in hell.

All he signed was a bill to keep men out of women's bathrooms. Nothing more.

I am sure the LGBT agenda will make and have made this into a huge strawman issue.

Transgendered people were just fine and under the radar until they got involved in it.
no, there was much more

no, there was much more

And yet, so much less than what people are trying to claim he signed.

HB2 did not impose ANY regulation on any part of society that was not controlled by the NC government, that is to say, it did not REQUIRE businesses to follow a specific rule regarding bathrooms. It only nullified Charlotte's law doing so, and then set up rules for the NC Education system to ensure that they follow a rule of separate gender bathrooms.

People who have failed to read the words in the law and understand them keep claiming that NC has banned transgender from using bathrooms.... and its absurd and frankly I'm sick of the media misrepresenting the bill, and my state.

US Justice Department: HB2 violates federal Civil Rights Act

U.S. Justice Department officials rebuked North Carolina’s House Bill 2 on Wednesday, telling Gov. Pat McCrory that the law violates the U.S. Civil Rights Act and suggesting that it could jeopardize the state’s federal education funding.

The department gave state officials until Monday to address the situation “by confirming that the State will not comply with or implement HB2.”

The letter says HB2, which pre-empted Charlotte’s anti-discrimination ordinance, violates Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, which bars discrimination in education based on sex, and Title VII, which bars employers from discriminating.

If that determination is upheld, North Carolina could lose millions in federal school funding. During the current school year, state public schools received $861 million in federal funding. ...

what's that you stepped in mccrory?

You know what the biggest crime is?

That the federal government spends millions that it collects in taxes on returning it to the states to spend on public schools.

The biggest crime is that the federal government overtaxes the people, so that it can then pick and choose how the states act, politically, by holding funding over their heads.

Nobody is violating the civil rights act.

Nobody is getting discriminated against based on their gender........ Unless you believe this liberal bull**** that one gets to make up their gender depending on which way the wind blows.

Nice way to ignore my point about the fedgov overtaxing the people and then using that money to force states into agreeing with whatever politics the fedgov wants them to.

Well that's not quite true. It also banned local Public Accommodation laws that may have protected LGBT and it provided that business could refuse wedding services if they disagreed with the marriage of a customers but:

(A) only for religious reasons (sorry if you disagree with same-sex marriage but not for religious reasons you aren't covered), and

(B) The exception only applies to LBGT customers (sorry if you disagree with interracial marriage, interfaith marriages, remarriage for divorced people, marriage for an old man to a very young (18+), you aren't covered under this law.

The justice department? LOL.
They are currently a mockery. This is the same justice department that fought hard against NC's voter ID law, just to lose in federal court.

They claimed voter ID was "racist" and in violation of federal law. They were proven to be wrong.

Just because the justice department claims something, doesn't make it true.

When it comes to a business that conducts weddings, they should be able to refuse service.
The government magistrates who perform those services however, should not be allowed to refuse service to anyone who has gone through the proper licensing procedures.

a law enforcement officer who pretends the justice department doesn't know what it's doing
who insists HB2 was of no consequence while the department of justice asserts otherwise
which of you should i find credible

You can find what you want credible.......
The justice department under this administration has been nothing more than a political tool.

Yep! The GOP is all about "small government" and "freedom"...as long as it's only for what they support. But when it comes to a city voting for and passing laws that apply only within that city, the GOP loves using the power of Big Government to impose their will on the people of that city.

And they support states' rights except when they don't *cough* war on drugs and mandatory minimums *cough*.

No, but the louder the Far Right screams about it, the more likely it is to be true.

Since the initial day in court the DoJ has won their case against NC, at least according to the ever so librul Wall Street Journal - Supreme Court Blocks Stricter Voting Rules in North Carolina.

Not only does this block/repeal anti-discrimination laws for the LGBTQ community
The "LGBTQ community" is nothing but deviant cult of social bacteria festering in a petri dish like any repulsive disease, with sterilization being the only appropriate social remedy.

For that matter I doubt even most individuals who practice homosexuality would want to be associated with that degenerate abomination, at least anymore than most Frenchman would the Marquis de Sade.

but also blocks/repeals anti-discrimination laws for veterans! This bill is ridiculous. A huge step backwards. [/FONT]

The reality is, it's a huge step forwards in the direction of virtue, culture and civilization, as opposed to the huge step backwards which is the "LGBTQ degenerate community", so far backwards it should share a cell in the Bastille with its deviant predecessor the Marquis de Sade, libertine and rapist extraordinaire. Not to mention the pedophile activist organizations such as NAMBLA which were once considered a part of the "LGBTQ" movement.
