Just Plain Silly

It has to do with Vauge's statement and Catholicism's belief that Jesus was man. My statement doesn't even mention the show.

Its not just Catholics that believe that.

The following is the Nicene Creed. It is one of the most basic statements of the Christian Faith:

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

You would think that all priests were gay and molesting little boys by the way the left wing media portrayed the priest scandal when in fact there were only 1 percent of all priest involved..............

GWB carried the Catholic vote.............

Catholics believe love the sinner but hate the sin when it comes to gays or tranvestities..........Thye are welcome in the Catholic church

The problem was not the number of priests involved in the molestation scandal, it was the systematic way that the Church covered up the problem.

GWB lost the Catholic Vote in 2000. He carried it by only 3% in 2004. Usually Catholics vote Democrat. Jesus by any definition is a Liberal. The Gospels of Christ are practically a handbook for socialism. The only issue that which the Catholic Church would agree with Conservatives on is the issue of Abortion and of Same Sex Marriage. Other than that, in terms of issues like war, socialism, its a very, very, very liberal Church.

There are 9 verses in the entire Bible dealing with the subject of homosexuality (even though homosexuality was more common in the Roman Empire than in our society today). There are over 2000 verses dealing with the subject of helping the poor and avoiding greed and materialism.

One of the most moving pictures I've ever seen was a foreign film, made in the 50's about a WW2 orphaned boy taken in by a church. He would go up to the attic of the church and began having conversations with a crucifix there. You never saw the actor playing Jesus, just shadowed feet on the cross.
Every Easter there's movies with Christ portrayed by some handsome blue-eyed actor. What's the difference???
Years ago, the comedy Soap was 'condemned' by over-zealous fundies.
Will and Grace was villified. There will always be something for these like-minded to protest about and some weak-spined program manager giving in to them.
/me starts a public outcry against the exploitation of bubbleheads via the show American Idol.

You can believe what you want about the bible and the Catholic religion but there is room in the church for gays as there is for anyone else........

I don't really have to defend the Catholic Church to someone like you but I will say that Catholic Relief Services spends millions of dollars that Catholics contributed to helping the poor.......The church believes there is no greater endeavor...........

I am not going to respond to anymore of your catholic bashing........

Oh ho, you're so funny.

Well, ok, not really. There's nothing to feel sorry for, so place your pity elsewhere....like, say, with the starving pygmies in New Guinea.

So basically their complaining about something they haven't even seen. Is there some law requiring these people to watch this show against their will?

I was not bashing the Catholic Church at all other than to say that the reason there was such an uproar during the molestation scandal was that the priests involved were simply moved to different parishes instead of removed.

My other comments about many Catholic Parishes being very liberal is a complement. Moreover, I am fully aware that Catholic Charities is literally one of the largest charitable organizations in the world. You are wrong when you say that the Catholic Church spends millions helping the poor. They actually spend Billions helping the poor. In fact, if I am not mistaken, the only larger charitable organization is the U.N. World Food Program. The Catholic Church is a far cry from the political agenda of the Religious Right. The only issues that which the Catholic Church would agree with the Religious Right on is the Abortion issue and Same Sex Marriage. Other than that, as I pointed out earlier, the Catholic Church, just like Christ, has a very liberal social view. It is for the redistribution of wealth, environmentalism, peace, Pope John Paul came out against the war in Iraq. The list goes on an on. Essentially, one could argue that the social ideology of the Catholic Church is about on par with a Pro-Life Green Party.
