Did you know that they're also tied to the US government, which has long been responsible for the killing of civilians across the globe, from Vietnam to Iraq. Unless you can prove that these funds they donated went to the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, then you don't really have a point.
Tied to the US government is a rather general reference which could means a spectrum of theings. You haven't specified, so I don't have a clear focus on what ties you refer to, or how. I do know that some of the things that were going on whereby CAIR was involved in the US government's affairs, they no longer are. Those involvements stopped after the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development trial in 2008, which sent 5 members of the HLF (which has been closely connected to CAIR) to very long prison sentences. Together with that, the biggest blow to CAIR's pretense as a supposed "moderate" organization, was when they were classified by the US Justice Dept. as "unindicted co-conspirator" in the case.
Also, federal prosecutors IDd CAIR as a present or past member of
"the Muslim Brotherhood's Palestine Committee and/or its organizations.", and testified that CAIR was a participant in a criminal conspiracy on behalf of the terror group
Hamas, which the trial proved had received funding from the Holy Land Foundation, which in turn, was supported by CAIR.
Want to hear more ? Sure you do. Let's let it all hang out (although even these important facts are just the tip of the iceberg with CAIR). CAIR not only got donations to the HLF, They also received a half million dollars from the criminally convicted group.
(Josh Gerstein, "Islamic Groups Named In Hamas Funding Case", New York Sun, June 4, 2007)
Here's an example of the typical taqiyya employed by Islamizer groups like CAIR, pretending to be oh so offended and outraged. When confronted with this fact by terrorism analyst Steven Emerson (of receiving the $.5 million from the HLF), CAIR co-founder Nihad Awad put on a show of anger/indignation that could have won him an Academy Award. He vehemently denied the allegation saying :
"This is an outright lie. Our organization did not receive any seed money from HLFRD. CAIR raises its own funds and we challenge Mr. Emerson to provide even a shred of evidence to support his ridiculous claim".
Emerson duly produced the canceled check. ("HLF's Financial Support of CAIR Garners New Scrutiny,
"The Investigative Project on Terrorism" October 12, 2007.)
I could cite
dozens of other examples where CAIR has been involved in anti-American Islamizationist activities, such as the current suit in Oklahoma against the state of Oklahoma, for its anti-Sharia referendum, overwhelmingly supported by the Oklahoma people. Note that Sharia law is (among many other things) unconstitutional just by virtue of it's incompatablity with Article VI of the US Constitution (the Supremacy Clause) which states "...This Constitution and the Laws of the United States..shall be the supreme Law of the Land".
