It's funny 'cause my girlfriend dated and is now married to a wonderfully cool guy who had an actual lisp. It was pretty well controlled except when he was drunk or really excited and then it became really really noticeable. And even though we all know a variety of gay men who don't speak with any type of lisp whatsoever, ever, we all wondered and worried about if this guy might be gay for the longest time.

Re: Is there a gay politics connection

I do think that homosexuals in America tend to go to the left at least because the current right is so anti-homosexual. I wouldn't expect to see too many black Democrats back in the 1800s. I think that if the US could wake up give homosexuals equal rights and just move past the issue that more homosexuals might move towards the center or right.

Re: Is there a gay politics connection

Most of this thread keeps reminding me of The Stepford Wives (the new one), and the gay couple that lived in Stepford. One of my favorite lines of that movie is when the more flamboyant gay guy said his SO announced that he was a gay Republican in their counseling. That's pretty much why they moved to Stepford.

As for more gays being into politics, wouldn't it be in their best interests to be more into politics? I figure there are probably a lot of homosexual couples who want to get married in any state and/or have their marriage recognized in any state, so being into politics is a good way to try to get that done.

I commend you guys for understanding that at times "the group" may represent your views, but they don't always represent your views & nobody thinks in a monolithic way just because of a particular characteristic they share with a larger group.
You left shuamort out of that group. He's actually pretty moderate most of the time, too.

I think I am the only one that actually identifies as "conservative" and NCFY actually identifies as "liberal".

Shu and Alex are both pretty middle of the road from what I can tell.
