My problem with the gay political establishment is that I think it's agist.

I think all the "we're here, we're queer, get over it", "what's wrong with ****ing in the streets" etc. guys grew up into the current "settle down my Vietnamese baby is sleeping", "your ****ing in the streets is lowering my property values" guys.

It infuriates me, they're basically saying "well, now that we're old and can't compete in the Babylonian indulgence game anymore...you all should stop too."

It's bull****.
That's all people, not just gay people.
There's a reason why the counterculture battlecry of the 1960s was "Never trust anyone over thirty."

Quote:
I hate gay people that join the heterosexual establishment. Live in the suburbs with their fake babies and their fakes lives and try to pretend their straight people, it's pathetic.

Gay people aren't "normal" we're gay. We're not "just like everyone else"- we're gay.

I don't want to ape the heterosexual lifestyle. I don't want an adopted foreign baby and suburban ranch style and a sensible car and all that miserable soul-sucking banality.

Sometimes I think it was better before Stonewall when we could do whatever we wanted because no one was watching.
Marriages have broken up over this very issue.
One partner quote/unquote "matures" at a faster rate than the other, and suddenly it's "Grow up and get with the program! You can't run around pretending to be sixteen forever! You're pathologically emotionally stunted." against "You're a sell-out, you lame establishment drone! At least I've remained true to my fundamental ideals."

And before you know it, divorce court beckons.

Don't worry; I'm sure you'll learn all about this for yourself, now that gay marriage will soon be legalized everywhere.

I reject the value judgement of "maturity".

Driving and SUV forty miles to work from you 6,000 sqft McMansion to a job you hate is..."mature"?

I'm in my late 20s, never married, no kids, and lived in an urban area for the majority of my life. Does this means I can apply for "honorary gayhood", or am I not counterculture enough for recognition?

I already got kicked out of the Yuppie Foundation when I moved to rural Alabama. I need a new cliche.

Re: Is there a gay politics connection

That is such garbage thinking. It reminds me of black folk that consider someone who talks eloquently as "speaking white".

You set your own "culture" back with that sort of barbaric thought process. It's almost as if you walk around with your own "gay ruler", requiring people to measure up.
