It is just a saying... like shoving it in your face or sticking it under your nose, * sigh * and all it means is to be made aware of whether you want to see it or not. I am aware, having lots of gay friends and going to gay party's and all that, and even most of them agree with me about the gay parade thing.

Now, are you really going to attempt the bigot angle, or are you going to be reasonable instead.

Well, maybe I just don't live in the right places (though I live in LA), but I just haven't experienced anything that made me feel that way. And I just don't understand why, if placed in the situation of, say, watching a gay pride parade, I would feel that it was being forced upon me. I'm not calling you a bigot. I just don't understand your reaction.

I have no problems at all with gay people. In fact I say lets give all them one state to live in and call it even. Perhaps a state that will also be filled with illegals then everyone will be happy.
BTW:
Do gays cut their own grass and wash their own cars? Cause if they don't the illegals will do that for them.

It's all good. No offense taken and I meant none towards you either.

I think that I phrased some of my comments poorly, in all honesty. Maybe I can't explain it well either, because to me, what I said makes sense in that it is not something that you can't say no to, but it is something that they are trying to shove in my, or our, faces. It is no biggy, just like with any extreme thing, that Clan, for instance... I can choose to ignore it or walk away. Actually, the parade is fun to watch to some degree (I have been to the SF one) but what I would rather see, is the Parade toned down and for other groups to start some of their own, balance.

It is almost offensive the way that he posted his opinions, as if we need to feel bad about the majority treating the gays poorly. It is like the Indians or slaves. I never owned a slave, and if there was an "ex-slave ancestor day Parade" ow something, then that would be lame too...

It is my experience that in a patriarchal society, the privileged class (heterosexual white males) do not like to see the underprivileged classes (females, racial minorities, gays) complaining about inequalities or demanding equal rights.
They certainly don't want to hear women bitchily demanding to be treated equally.
They prefer that women ask politely for equal rights. And say "pretty please".
A little lipstick doesn't hurt, either.

They prefer that gays "tone down" their parades, because anything else is "flaunting" their sexuality, is "shoving it down the throats" (or "up the butts", I suppose) of the privileged class, who doesn't want to be bothered by the boring litany of complaints gays have about their second-class citizen status.
The privileged class would prefer that gays remain in closets; if they must complain about their lack of rights, they should do it by writing a note, which they could then shove under the closet door.
Just like blacks should stay in the inner cities where they belong and not scare the privileged by holding parades (which are scary because it shows us that they could get organized, if they really wanted to), and not bother the privileged with their litanies of complaints about why things aren't fair. We haven't literally quarantined them in their ghettos (yet): we've just asked them nicely to stay in there and not come out. No, they can't shop at our stores, and no, their children can't go to our schools.
They have their own schools. They have their own stores. And if they don't, it's their own fault, for running all the nice asian-immigrant business owners away with their high levels of violent crime.
Whatever the case, the privileged majority doesn't want blacks "shoving their problems down our throats".

None of these "special interest groups"- women, blacks, gays- seem to get it.
It's not as much fun being part of the ruling class, if your underlings are constantly whining about their lack of rights.
They ought to just shut up and fall into line behind the ruling class, and accept that the ruling class has more rights specifically because they had the sense to be born white, male, and heterosexual.

Anything else is flaunting their unfortunate conditions (being brown, or lacking a dick, or being sexually attracted to others of the same gender).
The privileged class does not want to think about such unfortunate and distasteful things; it's depressing.
The privileged class feels very sorry that everybody else is inferior to them, but what can they do about it?
Actually give equal rights to blacks, women, and gays?
Are you freakin' crazy?
Then they wouldn't be the privileged class anymore. There would be no privileged class.
You ever heard of anyone abdicating power or status willingly?
What are you, some kind of communist?

Just stop "shoving it down their throats", m'kay?

PPS- When things aren't fair, you don't bother "asking" for equal rights. You ****ing TAKE them.

Women have equal rights - the right to work for an employer she chooses (that wants her). Don't like your rights at one place? Quit and go somewhere else.

Nothing stopped a woman from designing operating systems like Gates and building an empire. Nothing stopped a woman from savvy investments like Buffet. If men do what makes the money, that's the woman's fault. Simpering and complaining only takes you so far.
