And when one of my other friends found out him and his wife were having a girl, my wife remarked " Thats good, John needs to have a daughter".
What does that mean, when people say that a guy "needs to have a daughter"? | Quote:
It was said about me as well. I ended up having two.
This is supposed to be a polite way to call a guy a chauvinist pig, and supposedly having a girl will change his ways.

Or, on the contrary, perhaps they're saying that he's effeminate.
You know the guy better than us. If he's a misogynistic sexist pig, then probably they're saying that a daughter will change this (although that's unlikely. And is it really fair to the child?)
If he's a quiet, reserved type, perhaps they mean that he'd just get along better with a daughter.
My dad, you know, was lucky to have a daughter, I think. Because he doesn't like to do anything that boys like to do. He probably wouldn't have been a good dad for a boy.

You call her name she turns around, smiles and gets back to what she was doing. Maybe it's got something to do with being indisciplined or simply not giving a ****.

I think its a little early to expect any kind of disciplined behavior or to even try to enforce any kind of discipline. I'm kind of in the mindset of just making sure my son doesn't do anything that won't get him seriously hurt. Otherwise he has free reign of the house. He needs to explore.

There's really nothing wrong with him and his attitudes towards women, which is what makes it confusing.
My other friend that my wife had commented on, is more of a masculine looking guy, and a good cage fighter, but he has a soft personality if there is such a thing. In both cases, their respective female partners seem to dictate just what goes on. I think I drive their wives a little batty at times. I'm a bad influence I guess. |
