Insecurity and jealousy, which makes some women behave in a petty and dishonorable manner... although men do too, sometimes. But I think women do it for different reasons, and they do it differently- better. They're more devious about it. It's like an assault that you can't protect yourself from, it's like boxing with shadows, because when you try to expose the fact that it's going on, you can't
prove it. That's how devious it is. I don't know if men are
discreet or subtle enough to be that devious in their attacks on other people; gay men, maybe.
I think what makes women feel this insecure and jealous is not having felt safe in their lives. Because we live in a patriarchal society, this usually translates to not having had the love, patronage, or protection of a man. Ever.
Women who act this way did not have their daddies around. Later, when they were grown up and had kids, they didn't have their kids' daddies around, either.
They don't have the equanimity that comes from being around men, from knowing how to act and
think like a man. Men's behavior is the standard in our society. It's okay to be a woman, but you have to know how to
act like a
person, not a "woman". That's why I hate gender roles so much. The gender role assigned to men is logical/ acquisitive, while the one assigned to women is emotional/ intuitive. The gender role assigned to men is the one that can actually get you somewhere in this patriarchal society, whereas the gender role assigned to women is basically just stupid. You have to know how
not to act like a woman when the occasion calls for it, and if you're female you can't learn that unless you've spent your life around men.
Women who don't understand men and spend time with men from birth onward don't really know how to act like people. They don't know how to behave in a way that society at large will respect and reward.
And recognizing this- that they will never succeed at anything no matter what they do- on some subconscious level causes them to have low self-esteem. I mean, who wouldn't?
They don't lash out at men, though, even though men are at fault for their condition- the man who fathered and abandoned them, the man or men who fathered their children, and then abandoned them again.
They're too
weak to lash out at men. Who's going to lash out at an unknown (but known to be powerful) enemy?
Rather, they lash out at other women, in a spiteful, petty, vindictive, gossipy way.
It's all quite pathological. It doesn't help their plight at all, and it's self-defeating.
This whole depressing situation is caused by society and gender roles.
Women are still getting the ****ty end of the plunger, and women who aren't aligned- aligned from
birth- with some powerful man are never likely to get anywhere. And on some level, they realize it, and it vexes them and causes them to be all mean and crazy.
