So if they can duplicate this in humans... does this mean it will be voluntary correction of the problem or forced on those in need of "help"?

Or will the gay rights crowd fight this research in fear?

Making fruit flies have sex with the same gender is a far cry from making people change their sexual preferences. Sleeping with someone while drugged up beyond comprehension is not the same as choosing that person under normal circumstances. Furthermore, the genetic changes to mess with fruit flies are several orders of magnitude away from doing the same thing to humans.

So you consider homosexuals to be those in need of "help" huh?

If they can somehow duplicate this in humans I pray those who are gay would protest this to the fullest extent. You are who you are, and **** it if you don't like 'em.

I would fight it too, not the research, but if it would be forced on anyone because someone doesn't accept them as who they are. Maybe someday they will test fruit flies to learn how to un-program the intolerant gene. We can only hope this will help those in need of "help" that they will someday become tolerant of other people's lifestyle choices.

Dude, people aren't forced to do any medical procedure against their will unless the consequence of not undergoing it would potentially harm others.

Though, if a way to change people's sexuality effictively is developed, I supect that a number of people will have it performed voluntarily.

Hey, before we cover the OP in venom, is it possible that maybe some people who are gay out there may be encouraged by news like this (well, not really fruit flies *******; you know what I mean, the scientific possibility of being able to reverse homosexuality)?

Is there a 100% consensus that gay people are happy being gay?

For that matter, is there a 100% consensus that straight people are happy being straight.

This seems to imply a 2way street.

Being gay today doesn't carry the stigma it did 20 or even 40 years ago so I doubt the number of gay guys sitting in their rooms going "Why ain't I normal!?" is all that big. Just doesn't seem likely. Maybe a few in ulta conservative families and hidden hypocrites but otherwise? No not really. I don't wonder why I like women and not men. If a gay guy wondered why he likes other guys and not girls then thats who I think has a problem in need for correcting.
