"The pets of Palm Beach Community College employees will qualify for discounted group medical insurance beginning in January, but domestic partners are still barred from receiving similar benefits."
So pets are placed above humans for health insurance? Although I do not agree with having pets in general, I understand that people take them very seriously and may need help in caring for their health, but should they be put above people?

And there are those that wonder why they want to have the legal right of marriage like everyone else. |

I can get a car insurance policy for a household, no matter the sexual orientation of the couple, here in Wisconsin. It could be two gay guys and their kid and I could write it on one policy. You would think that the someone in the health insurance industry, being a private market, would provide this service to that demographic in much the same manner.
Of course it would be a moot point if the government would just quit caring about gays getting married in the first place. I still struggle to see why people are so adamant against it. Marriage is a legally binding contract, and if two people want to enter into that contract together, then why stop them?

Marriage is a legally binding contract, and if two people want to enter into that contract together, then why stop them? | I've heard some people defend this sort of policy by claiming that if gay marriage were legalized, any two unrelated people of the same sex could enter into a sham marriage merely to collect benefits.
My answer to this is, as the current system stands, couldn't any two people of opposite sexes enter into a sham marriage merely in order to collect benefits?
Yet this never happens (or if it does, it happens so rarely and so discreetly that we never hear of it). |

Yet this never happens (or if it does, it happens so rarely and so discreetly that we never hear of it). | Well straight people certainley do enter into sham marriages all the time(The term gold digger and sugar momma come to mind) in order to collect benefits. But usually we just do it to screw that person, not the government. |
