Don't answer the phone for a week, also the door, e-mails etc. Then if you are still pursued face to face, tell them you both need to see other people for a while. Continue to make yourself very scarce.

Tell the person face to face it's just not working out for you. If they appreciate honesty, tell them the truth so they don't make the same mistake again- if it's their fault. If they don't like honesty, just don't give a reason.
