Kindergartners in WA state to be taught 'transgenderism'

Big difference. Either something is specifically included, as the OP claims, or it is not, which is reality.

No, it doesn't work that way. It actually is specifically mentioned, they just used a different term. That would be like me saying, "We aren't teaching Creation in school, we are teaching Intelligent Design."

I don't think we've made any Christian laws lately, so I don't understand why people act like Christians are always trying to take over

MADE laws, no. Tried? Sure. Go look at any law that tried to stop SSM.

Yes it does work that way. Gender expression is not the same thing as transsexuality. The latter is very specific.

Look, I don't look at SSM as being the center of the universe like some people. These people are a tiny minority. I usually stay out of these discussion because to me it's insignificant to other issues. I don't care that much. Christianity on the other hand is 2 billion people, and yet with all those people we don't have a theocracy in the US as many fear. We never have and never will. Even if prayer was allowed in schools, it would never change that. Even a hard core Christian president won't make us a theocracy; not going to happen. And I wouldn't want it to. The constant beat down on Christianity, trying to paint people as rightwing, hillbilly, gun-toting kooks is what bothers me. They generally don't hurt anyone.

The "war against Christianity" isn't the center of my universe like it is to some people. Mostly, the people who complain about it are people who are either over reacting or DO want a more theocractic government. And the people who paint all Christians as rightwing, hillbilly, gun-toting kooks are just as bad and just as prevalent as those Christians who insult the LGBT community and believe that THEIR beliefs should be THE beliefs. Both groups are pretty worthless.

Beginning as young as kindergarten, public school students in the state of Washington will be taught about “transgenderism” effective in the fall 2017 semester.

New LGBT-friendly changes to the Evergreen State’s health education learning standards have been applied so that instruction on “gender expression” will be mandatory for teachers to administer in their classrooms to students, according to the Daily Caller.
GOPUSA ? Kindergartners in WA state to be taught 'transgenderism'

o um ok

Don't kindergartners already know that boys and girls are different?

I would imagine so. And to answer your next question, I believe I have said earlier in this thread that I do not support this policy. Too early to discuss stuff like this.

Why do kindergarteners need to know about any of this crap in the first place?

Well, they already do know. Why talk about it? Probably to stop bullying.

Children clearly express their gender, both verbally and aesthetically, by the age of 3 years old. For most of American history, non-conforming children (who are actually not uncommon -- not all gender variant people are transgender, let alone transsexual) have been heavily repressed at home and endured bullying at school, resulting in mental health issues later on in life.

Kindergarteners grasp their own gender firmly, and have for several years, as a matter of fact. And given the amount of abuse non-conforming children receive both at home and in school, making it ok to talk about it at this age seems like exactly the right thing to do.

They are not "teaching transgenderism" or any such nonsense. They are merely talking about normal human variance, which children this age are already perfectly aware of and desperately need a safe space for.

You know I understand that they're trying to make people understand that transsexuals are just people. But could they please go back to pushing excellence in math and science before we become a third world nation? Most of the higher level college degrees are going to foreigners now, instead of native born Americans. The Chinese are on our heels technically, and we need to improve our game. It seems all this social teaching has become the all important priority, instead of what gets your a job. I'm not saying don't teach it at all, but let's not forget the priorities.

That would be easier if gender non-conforming children weren't so badly bullied that they often drop out of school and never go on to attain such things. Kindergarten teachers already teach about things like sharing, which also has nothing to do with math and science. I don't see how this different. A major part of schooling in the early years is teaching children how to be socially functional, not just literate.

Gender non-conformity is common. It doesn't only affect transsexuals, or even transgenders. *I* am gender non-conforming, and I was as a child a full decade before gender variance had any mainstream recognition, even though I still consider myself a cis-woman, if a somewhat diluted one. Lots of cisgender people are gender non-conforming. It was hell for me in school, and my mother was raving about me being a lesbian when I was still in elementary school. Still is hell actually, any time I'm not in a city of over a million people. Oh god, I can't imagine trying to move back to a small town now.

It would have been lovely if everyone learned as soon as they got into school that we exist and to leave us the **** alone.
