Hi All

I was thinking recently, don't straight people watch porn to watch the opposite sex? So isn't it a bit odd how straight people like straight porn more than gay (for women) or lesbian (for men) porn.

Why else would a straight person watch porn? If you had a porno with a man and a woman; and you removed the woman or replaced her with another man, would you continue to watch it? Or course not.

So in theory, if you removed the man from a normal 1 man 1 woman porn and added another woman, shouldn't the appeal of that video (for straight people at least) go up? But it doesn't.

I'm straight, but (somehow) only have just noticed this fact. Lesbian porn just don't do it for me as much as straight porn. I know I don't dislike lesbians, as I honestly think that if there was a God, lesbians would be Its gift to earth. I also know that I'm not projecting myself in the place of the male porn actor or anything. So why do I like straight porn more than lesbian?

I started looking this up and quickly found that this might be a common theme with men as Pornhub male search data show that lesbian porn is a distant 6th in search results.

I've made a video on this with graphs and polls which show this; and I do think there is an answer for this, you can find the video HERE

But, I'm interested in what you all think, so my questions this, does enjoying straight pron mean you're a bit gay?

I'm straight but I watch it all - Straight more than gay, and gay more than lesbian.

There's more to porn than 'tab a / slot b / tab c / slot d' and so on. There's a dynamic between the two or more participants. Attitudes, emotions, conflicts, and broad concepts like 'bdsm' vs 'not bdsm'.

Personally - I favor the more hardcore concepts. I'm not necessarily needing '**** and *****' - and I really don't care about tits - I'm wanting 'dominant and submissive' or 'extreme size play' (big cocks, big toys, fists - anything on the extreme size end of the spectrum'. Those two things are my biggest go-to's.)

Personally, I feel that lesbian ****ing is boring (I don't care for tribbing or tits on tits or slim slender delicate fingers fingering a ****) . . . unless it's some sort of extreme bondage with whips and belts, I'm likely not going to even pay attention to it.

But when you talk about swapping out genders - it really depends on what they're doing together. If she's just bending over and taking hard up the ass and you swap her out for a hot guy who's bending over and taking it up the ass - or a hot chick with a strapon ****ing her ass - then I'm likely going to stay tuned in. I just want that ass to get ****ed, twink kink or whatever.

The more 'normal' the sex is (just sex - or even the more romantic couple stuff) the less and less I'll find gay or lesbian remotely interesting. In fact, I even find that to be hella boring when its a straight couple . . . pass. If I just want to watch sex I'll put in my own sex tapes.

I must admit, seeing a man's penis, regardless of whether or not it is being manipulated by a female, is an incredible turn off most of the times.

Hence, "solo" (hallelujah sounds play in the background).

Ummm... No?

Why do you think the most popular camera angles and sexual positions in modern porn are the ones which show off the least amount of the man's body, and the most of the woman's? The male viewers who make up the primary audience simply don't want to see that kind of thing.

Hell! The whole "POV" genre is explicitly based around the premise that you don't see the male actor involved virtually at all, and therefore get to witness things as you would if you were the one actually having sex with the female actress in question.

When I first saw porn... seeing another dudes penis was really hard to not get grossed out by... eventually i developed the skills to ignore it all together...literally don't look at it, just the girl and mental block the other half of the screen

lol

Very clear difference between most women who watch porn and most men, I suppose. But you're referring to mass-marketed porn which has always targeted men as consumers and ignored women.

And we tend to be drawn to the more hardcore stuff that the mass industry can't figure out how to do right and hot . . . the good stuff comes from Germany and other such places.

Give me the **** - and the ***** - and put them together and it's even better . . . but I definitely have a thing for sweet ass.

POV never made sense. Your point on it makes a bit of sense I guess - all those thought process issues at hand. And it would be impossible to do if women had that type of issue, in fact. I don't do any sort of 'insert myself as a character in this sex scene' in fiction or porn so when it's geared toward that I find it empty and dull.

I'm a voyeur - I want to see someone in their full self getting into it, not paper dolls.

I have actually thought about this before as well. While I don't watch as much porn as I did in my single days, I preferred straight porn. Porn of a woman by herself or with another woman was nice, but it wasn't my preference. I preferred when it was a man and a woman. But I preferred it even more when it was a man and two women.

But I NEVER watched porn that was two men and one woman. So most of my porn had a man in it, but only one, and it had to have a woman in it, but more than one woman was just fine by me.

I think many straight men are like that. And I think I know the reason. Porn is fantasy. And the man watching the porn likes to imagine that he is the man in the video. It is difficult to keep that fantasy going if there is no man in the video. But it sort of ruins the fantasy if there is more than one man in the video because who the hell is that man? I think that is also why porn tailored to straight men tends not to show much of the face of the male porn actor.

I have put way too much thought into this.

Porn, movies and games all follow the basic premise of how our brains work... We live through the characters, or at least relate to them.

We imagine ourselves as the male depicted in the video...

Although I will say, being a bisexual man the penis doesn't bother me much at all... Though strangely enough I don't find gay porn appealing at all anymore.

I don't know that people watch pornography to see women or men. You don't need pornography for that. They watch it to watch people have sex.

Further viewing pornography isn't an indication of your sexual inclination, any more than watching horror movies or playing video games is an inclination of your violence.

I watch cooking shows but I'm not a chef. I enjoy science fiction but I never want to be an astronaut.

So no, what you are entertained by isn't an indication of what you like to do.

HA! This thread reminded me of a bit done by comedian Ron White.

POV didn't even make the list in the pornhub statistic posted in the op.

I'm not buying this. There is loads of pornography that has no penis in it at all. If it really bothered you, you would have just watched solo pornography or girl on girl.

That seems a bit far fetched.

More or less the opposite here. While a "voyeuristic" scene can be good, if the couple in question is really, really into things (the excitement is basically contagious), POV is probably my favorite genre of heterosexual pornography.

Watching some woman with an amazing ass freaking go to town in reverse cowgirl or doggy is just awesome.

I have absolutely no interest in gay porn. I turn it off basically immediately if I happen to stumble upon it by accident, and turn my head away so I don't see much.

Lesbian can be really good as well. However, I agree that tribing, fingering, and toy play tend to be boring as Hell. Oral is all I'm really interested in there.

I'm somewhat "orally fixated" and pretty much always have been for as long as I can remember (some of my first memories involve putting brightly colored pieces of plastic into my mouth and chewing them thinking they'd taste like fruit or candy), so I'm thinking that's the draw there.

Interestingly, if lesbian porn gets too "emotional," it actually turns me off. My theory on why that happens is that most girl-girl porn basically strikes men as being a "voyeuristic threesome," where they are working under the assumption that they can conceivably get involved with the action at some point.

If it's too "gay," that destroys the illusion.

Porn, movies and games all follow the basic premise of how our brains work... We live through the characters, or at least relate to them.

Exactly. I don't have any issue with seeing penises, per se. However, if they're there, they should be doing something in relation to a woman I want to look at. The man attached to it is (and should be) a near total non-entity.

It's not as visually stimulating...

Well, when I'm looking for porn I normally go for the Male/Female one on one stuff but a little female/female one on one never hurt anyone. I don't particularly mind female solo action but would never watch male solo. Females are also good with assorted toys, vegetables, power tools, cookware, gardening equipment, stuff from the basement, stuff from the attic, stuff from the refrigerator, stuff from the freezer, on top of the washing machine, in hammocks, on the couch, in the pool, in the wilderness, on car hoods, on car trunks, in gardens, on airplanes, on fire trucks, in military gear, in cop gear, in maid attire, in schoolteacher attire, in cheerleader attire, in wedding attire, in cowboy attire, in business attire, in no attire, changing a tire, reading a book, painting a picture, looking at a picture, looking in a mirror, looking at a camera, taking pictures with a camera and, of course, frying an egg.

More or less the opposite here. While a "voyeuristic" scene can be good, if the couple in question is really, really into things (the excitement is basically contagious), POV is probably my favorite genre of heterosexual pornography.

I'm all about the homemade stuff.

ALMOST any actual professional porn is a complete turnoff for me... It's just too fake.

I was thinking recently, don't straight people watch porn to watch the opposite sex?

Speaking for myself, I only watch porn to vicariously live out my fantasy of being a rapacious octopus who ravages teenage Japanese girls.

I wasn't aware that there was another reason.

I find this concept of multiple humans being involved intriguing.

Yeah. Amateur is definitely preferable. Though... There are some professional sites which manage to produce some stuff which is sufficiently realistic to maintain the illusion, IMO.

I'm undeniably fairly "vanilla" in my tastes as well. I just want to see sexy bodies writing around. I don't want to see crazy fluids everywhere, giant orifices, or anything like that.

In that regard, Sasha Grey is probably one of the most irritating porn stars out there.

In theory, she's basically perfect. Slim, petite, "real" looking brunette with a cute face and tight little bubble butt. Once the videos get started, however... Yeah. All she wants to do is spit up everywhere, stuff things up her butt, and howl and curse like some deranged psycho.

Her videos are basically "traps" as far as I'm concerned. Somehow, I keep falling for them.[emoji38]

I'm not the least bit interested in straight pornography. The only kind I ever watch us the kind with nothing but men in it. I'm not against women, in all honesty I find them attractive. The problem I have with pornography with women in it, is the women they find. They look like crack heads with boob jobs. It's kind of creepy.

Only Pornstar I've watched at all lately is Mia Kalifa... Wowzers.

I've never liked Sashas movies.

Wow we are perverted aren't we... but lets be honest here:

Yes and no.

For some people, part of the appeal of having someone of their sex in porn is that you can put yourself in their shoes, so to speak. Especially true for men, since men's faces are often omitted in porn.

But, are a lot of straight people "a little bit gay"? Probably. Sexuality is rarely completely black or white. Most straight people lack sufficient same-sex attraction to ever do anything about it, but that doesn't mean that there's absolutely *nothing* they find appealing about the same sex.

About 10 to 15% of straight people have sex-same sexual experiences. Does that make them bi? Probably not. Behavior and orientation don't always march in lockstep -- ask the men of the sham marriage era. Experimentation is just experimentation unless they decide it's more than that. There's no "purity" standard to sexuality.

Also, if you're straight and male especially, you may, well, be really into a penis going into a vagina, and lesbians don't do that. They can use a strap-on, but it's not exactly hard to tell the difference. Perhaps that's what kills it for you?

But to go on a very slight tangent, there's something else Auntie mentions here that I find interesting, and have thought about before...

The more 'normal' the sex is (just sex - or even the more romantic couple stuff) the less and less I'll find gay or lesbian remotely interesting.

I have noticed that the more kink-based something is, the less I care about the sex of the people involved. And I'm starting to think kink really isn't about sex much at all.

Yes, if you're into, it's a turn-on. But it's perfectly possible to have a good kink scene with no sex whatsoever. Some kink porn has no sex. Dominatrices usually don't have any form of sex. Yet this sort of play, porn, or service can be perfectly satisfying.

More and more, I think of kink as just another way we seek extreme experiences, or altered states of consciousness -- not much different than sky diving or tripping.

The extra factor, perhaps, is in its reliance on trust in another. So at its best, perhaps it is also "extreme bonding." But whatever it is, it seems to be only tangentially related to actual sex.

Fair enough, but if it was a turn off to see it I doubt you would watch any pornography with it.

I can believe it isn't the part you like, even if you did I don't think that would make you gay, any more than playing with your own penis would.

Like me, I get nothing out of spanking, but if that occurs in a movie I don't turn it off especially if all the other stuff is good. However SCAT is a complete turn off I don't care how hot it is once that happens I'm out.
