I think the state should buy these guys a top of the line sex doll($10,000?), child size. I am told that in ten years they likely will seem sort of human.

Note: this is in jest, but a bit serious too because I do believe that we can get these guys what they need with no victims being created, and I am all for that.

Some already do, there is already serious time involved in committing child rape and when it comes to a serial pedophile, which most are, life in prison already is a possibility.

It's a crime to act on the urges of being a pedophile, not on having the urges of being a pedophile itself which is what the OP is concerned with.

Someone has to be out of their rocker to imagine a non-human will suffice in place of anything. Like - Twilight Zone level of asteroid abandoned. If substitutes are in order I'd imagine having a wife would be the better option.

All I can think of is that nutjob of a weirdo who dug up all those dead girls and turned them into lifesized dolls that he kept in his room. And I can't get past that.
 
I have mixed feelings about it. It would suck to be a pedophile. I wish we knew more about it.

It is a different dynamic between pedophiles and rapists. Rapist aren't necessarily attracted to their victims, at least not sexually. They might have a certain criteria, but that is usually bases upon their reason for rape, not what sexually attracts them. Additionally, rapist are feeling the urge to rape but want to protect those they feel the urge to rape. What Takagi is talking about here is something to take the edge off so that real children are protected. While legal pedophila is about actions, clinical pedophila is about urges/attractions.

Depends upon which definition you go by. The clinical/medical definition of a pedophile is someone who has the urge or desire to have sex with children aged 10 or younger, whether they have acted upon the urge or not. Hebephilia is the attraction to those aged 11 to 14, and ephebephilia covers 15 to 19. The legal definition of pedophilia varies a bit from state to state, but as a rule of thumb is having sex with a minor (under 18) with a certain minimum age difference between the two participants.
So no, pedophila not acted upon is not a crime.

Pedophiles does not you rape children. It means you are sexually attracted to children. Child molester means you rape or at least sexually assault children. There is a difference. You can be a pedophile without being a child molester and even be a child molester without being a pedophile.

He is partly correct, and I addresses earlier. Legally, being a pedophile would encompass those who have assaulted an underage drinking individual and are clinically a pedophile, a hebephilia or a ephebophile. The legal definition does not match the clinical one and many are not willing to make the distinction.
