If science can transplant a uterus into a woman, can it transplant one into a man?

The answer is yes. Theoretically, men could receive a uterus, carry a baby to term, and give birth. But what really blew our minds is that the day of male pregnancy is closer than you’d think.

IMO this is going too far. Now I know that this is something that a transgendered male-to-female would wish for, and I sympathize. I have no problem with an individual making such a choice for themselves.

However, as a male I prefer the companionship of a biologically "original" female. I don't want to be "fooled" by a transgendered male-to-female who is so dedicated to their life-choice that they would lie about their origins in order to be accepted by a heterosexual male.

So if this type of operation becomes a norm, I think that some sort of law requiring a transgendered individual declare their history before involving a potential life-partner in such a relationship. I think that is only reasonable because a transplanted uterus contains eggs from a female unknown to the male partner, and the children are clearly NOT going to look anything like the transgendered "mother."

If it were me I would be shocked and angry.

Thoughts?

i can see this easily abused.

imagine, a man falsely accused of abusing his girlfriend given a sentence to be forced to undergo the surgery to transform him into a female and then forcing him to have this, well, installed.

Then have him raped to see what it feels like.

And then force him to carry the baby to term.

ugh.

There are many opportunities for abuse.

When ti ebcoems common. IF it becomes common.

I ahve no problem other than it being a disgusting thought to me if they want to choose this route.

on the other hand, maybe it could go a long way to ending gender based prejudism and bigotry and intolerance if we were all one gender.

Maybe THEN they will be 'normal'.

Why so old fashioned? If the operations were well done, you probably wouldn't notice the difference till it was too late.
But making them wear a stigma of some kind is interesting. It reminds me of Trump.

I'm totally fine with this, but I see your point of not wanting to be tricked.

I think that goes more toward honesty in a relationship than anything else.

This type of surgery would never appeal to me - but for those who think it might "complete" them - I'm all for it. Our medical technology is advancing at record speed and as long as no one is harmed in the process (animal testing), I support it.

A transgendered individual could choose to fool a partner right now - and there might not be a baby emerge from the union - but you could still be fooled. I think the lesson is to establish trust. If you think something is wrong - it might be - and that might not be the partner for you.

This is the first I've heard of uterus transplants. Can they function as viable wombs? I don't see how. Even in women... how would they reconnect the fallopian tubes so that the egg descends from the uterus? If there is uterine or fallopian scaring whatsoever then the egg won't descend or attach.

And if you transplanted one into a man, would synthetic hormone therapy be enough to support a pregnancy? And if so, how would such hormones not mess him up for life?

This would have to be for trans women. I don't see it being workable for anyone else.

This procedure was developed I think last year and it was basically to take women that have an abnormal uterus it allows them to grow a normal one and then transplant it
back into the person. this allows them to have a baby etc ...

this procedure was not meant for what they are talking about. in the former case rejection is nill since it is the persons own cells being used.
in the latter rejection would be huge. not to mention finding women that would be will to donate some of their uterus for the procedure.

the fact still remains they will still not be women.
the latter case is nothing more than medical Frankenstein type of thing.

I seriously doubt that hormone therapy would be enough. there are about a million chemical changes that happen to women
during pregnancy. not go mention that men simple were not made to have babies.
from the bone structure to the muscles etc ...

a C-section would be required but that carries it's own risks.
and I would say at this point puts the baby at risk.

Playing with nature like this is so very wrong and can only lead to problems down the track. I am against it.

But think what a God send it will be, when we can implant a functioning uterus in a plastic sex toy doll. It will bring women freedom of childbirth.

I'll stick with kidney stones, thank you.

What are you talking about? This doesn't make sense.

If a uterus works in a plastic doll there is no need for women to go through pregnancy.

I could be wrong, but I think the idea is for trans-women who want to have a complete female experience.

I don't know how many trans-women there are out there - but I'm guessing it's extremely small. Smaller yet would be the number of them who tried this type of surgery.

As with most medical procedures, I think this surgery should be a decision made between a trans-woman and her doctor. Is it really society's business to deny her what her heart most desires?

and the person they get the tissue from. that has to be donated or something.
I am not sure there are to many women that are going to donate uterus tissue for them procedure.

well they can't have a compete female experience. why? because they are not female.

That's probably also true.

Not "completely," I agree. But, I think they'll settle for "as close as possible."

It's certainly not my business to interfere with their desires.

I too dont fancy getting into relationships with transgenders, no matter how good they may look.

If I get into a relationship with one and it goes past my radar for hwever long then good for them, unless if I find out.

I'm not sure where you're from but that isn't how most justice systems work.....

Are you also against blood transfusions and organ transplants? What about penicillin? Or dialysis machines?

that is the problem though. it is why a lot of them get beaten up or in the worst case killed.

they lie to the person and then when found out they either get beaten really badly or worst case killed in a crime of passion.

they are screwing with people on an emotional level and it is severely dishonest of them to do so.

Only the ones who lie. There are plenty of transgender people who are upfront about it.

i don't mind that people can do this but ya it would be wrong to not tell some 1 your whit about it ahead o time

Yes, in the same manner any elective surgery should be paid for. I certainly don't want to start paying for every boob job out there, either.

You are already supporting 535 boob jobs as it is.

You are now going to have to show a source for this. Good luck.

By the way, I just got a flyer on campus a couple days ago saying that tomorrow, 21 November, is the Transgender day of Remembrance for all the transgender people killed in the past year. It would be interesting to see how well you can match up all those names with lies.

Sorry, but I really don't think you can.
