Police Officer ‘Arrests Lesbian Couple For Kissing In Public’

Since the couple filed a civil suit, maybe it would have been more economical to train officers ahead of time instead of becoming engaged in a lawsuit that will likely cost the department and people of Hawaii big bucks and will engage them in a national debate with them as the focus.

A vacationing couple ordered not to leave the island having to sleep in parks and not able to leave for 5 months before the charges were dismissed? Five months?

That first part is easy to say. Not so easy in practice when it requires time and money to do so. Then money to pay the qualified people to take the job. Who wants to do a job for 40k a year where everyone hates you and many want to harm you? And then you only train those people for less than 800 hours? And pay them crap for that too?

Our system is broken for getting cops. Not just in training them

I find it interesting that the surveillance video has disappeared.

I find it interesting that the surveillance video has disappeared.

Where does it say that? Is there even footage or is it sealed? That happens a lot

Hm. Was it missing or does it not exist? You know those cameras aren't always on right? But seriously...why would it be missing? Not like it is needed for this case.

Per the defense attorney he was told they are "missing". The assault occurred at the check out line, tons of cameras in that area.

If you don't want to be arrested, don't assault police officers.

Of course, in the eyes of the left lesbians can do no wrong.

He started it as he pushed her with his belly... I swear, you and those like you do continue to amaze me though...

This is a "story." It is also pretty much one-sided.

How about waiting until the whole story comes out before jumping to conclusions? Just a thought. :coffeepap

Sorry, that is just not as much fun...

According to them.

Maybe they were off and they don't want it to get out that they were? Plenty of reasons. But again...no need for them. Hell...maybe they don't want to deal with riots? Not like it is needed.

Sadly his statement holds a bit of water.

True but by his logic lots of things hold water... in the eyes of the right sexism is tolerated. Just meaningless really...

I don't tolerate it. What isn't really tolerated is over the top PC garbage. The left takes it too far. I'm still wondering what caused all this. There has to be more to the story.

Follow up on this case:

HONOLULU (AP) — Honolulu has agreed to pay $80,000 to settle a lawsuit from two gay women who allege a police officer wrongfully arrested them after seeing them kissing in a grocery store.

Details of the settlement were announced Friday in federal court in Honolulu. It's still subject to City Council approval. The council is expected to consider the settlement at a July 6 meeting, said Honolulu Deputy Corporation Counsel Nicolette Winter.

"The Department of the Corporation Counsel believes that the tentative settlement is in the best interests of the city," Corporation Counsel Donna Leong said in a statement.

Courtney Wilson and Taylor Guerrero were visiting Hawaii from Los Angeles last year when, according to the their lawsuit, they were harassed and arrested because the officer didn't like their public displays of affection in a Foodland store on Oahu's North Shore.
...
After the lawsuit was filed, the Honolulu Police Department opened an internal investigation. "The internal investigation was completed, and the allegations were not sustained," department spokeswoman Michelle Yu said in an email. Harrison retired at the end of last year, she said."

Here's an idea. Let get a bunch of us together, go find where this officer is and proceed to engage in straight, gay and lesbian DPA's.

Police Officer ?Arrests Lesbian Couple For Kissing In Public? - Yahoo News

A police officer in Hawaii is being investigated by officials after he allegedly arrested a lesbian couple who were kissing in public. Taylor Guerrero and Courtney Wilson were holidaying on the islands from Los Angeles in March this year when they stopped off at a Woodland grocery store. Officer Bobby Harrison is then said to have taken offence at the pair’s public displays of affection when they began kissing. According to a lawsuit, the pair were hugging and holding hands as they walked through the aisles, while Harrison “observed their consensual romantic contact and, in a loud voice, ordered plaintiffs to stop and ‘take it somewhere else.’”

The couple, who have been dating for two years, complied with the officer’s demands but were allegedly told they would be thrown out of the store when he saw them being affectionate again. Things soon turned physical when the pair queued up to pay for their goods, according to Guerrero. She claimed: “He was bumping his belly against Courtney. ”He said, 'you girls don’t know how to act. You don’t know the difference between a motel and a grocery store.’” Guerrero then claimed she was shoved by Harrison when she tried to defend her girlfriend and kicked him as she fell. Wilson added: “The whole situation got physical. I got punched in the face by him.” Other shoppers could only watch as shop staff restrained the couple as Harrison arrested them for assault on an officer. The pair were jailed for three days before they were released and ordered to stay in Honolulu, where they had to stay with friends and family. Their charges were eventually dropped. The Honolulu Police Department have now launched an investigation into wrongful arrest while Harrison remains on active duty. Foodland have since apologised to the couple over the incident.
