Would you, or do you, feel comfortable wearing these things in public?

If so, what kind?

Don't get me wrong. There are definitely different styles out there, and some are more modest than others. You can wear a long shirt with it, for instance, so it doesn't show anything off, or you can simply opt for the kind that doesn't really ride up the crack.

I swear to God though, some girls seem to go deliberately out of their way to opt for pants like this.

I mean... Really? You might as well be wearing freaking body paint at this point. We can literally see how every inch of skin you have wiggles in these things, and trust me, most of us guys take full advantage of that.

Most of the time, the girls who do it don't even look like the particularly "wild" sort either. I don't get it.

I wear both in public, on occasion. Although the leggings are worn under a short dress rather than by themselves. But I've dropped off my kids at school in yoga pants (we walk), since it is easier than having to go home and change before going to the gym (I tend to lose motivation by such a useless time-consuming task).

Now none of my yoga pants are like the ones in the OP, but still.

I wear leggings and yoga pants because they comfortable without being baggy like sweats. I usually cover my butt, always in leggings, and would never wear ones like in the op, that's just calling for attention.

and to them, we say, thank you.

That sounds reasonable enough, though. Like I said, they don't have to be over the top, even if you don't wear something over them.

I saw this girl at work the other day, however, who was basically wearing the same get-up as what you see in the OP. I'm not really sure why someone would do that.

It's like the whole outfit's conservative, except for the giant glaring "LOOK AT MY CROTCH AND BUTT!!!" sign they're wearing on their lower half. lol

Oh, I ain't complaining.

You've still got to wonder what they're thinking though. lol
No, I dont. I can just appreciate the end result.

BTW...I have a pretty good minds eye anyway, so she could be a wearing a baggy sweater and sweatpants...and its all good.

True. Though... Visual aids are certainly appreciated as well.

If you had an ass like that, wouldn't you wear yoga pants too?

I love leggings, and wear them all the time. I think of them a bit like slightly more forgiving tights. I wear them with stuff that more or less covers my butt. Often dresses, but long tops as well.

My rule with leggings is that, given that they don't have gusset and are not transparent, I can ride the line closer than I would with tights (like tops that are too long to look right with jeans, but not quite long enough to be a dress).

I don't think of them like pants. They're not.

However, if someone wants to treat leggings like pants, I don't really see why it's a big deal. I just don't think it looks right. I also don't find it practical (you'd wear out a pair of leggings really quickly if you sat on them all the time -- that's why pants are made of tougher stuff).

Yes, I am sometimes a bit shocked by people's wardrobe choices. For example, a woman I recently saw at midday who appeared to be sober, and was walking around with a button-down dress... which was unbuttoned to the top of her panties. Said panties came into full view whenever she walked, as the inertia of her body pushed it open.

Do I understand it? No.

Does it matter? Not really.

But it's worth noting I have never had a pair of leggings that would climb up my ass like that. I suspect there is a rouched seam, and this affect is intentional.

Makes me think of the late 80's when Jane Fonda was hawking her video tapes and "Jazzercise" was damned near softcore porn on Showtime. We saw these things all over the shopping malls and, frankly, about 80% of the women wearing them looked like they were trying to smuggle cauliflower in their pants.

Got to be honest here, I'm not really sure if I even know the difference.

They all just look like form hugging fabric to me.

Oh, it's definitely intentional. If it was merely form fitting, it wouldn't dig into the crack like that.

I would agree, however, that it doesn't really matter. I just can't help but gawk a bit when I see it. lol

As I said before, the look in general makes for kind of a bizarre juxtaposition anyway. It usually involves a relatively frumpy looking long-sleeve shirt, with little make-up, paired with relatively tame flat heeled boots.

They just happen to slap a pair of painted on "LOOK AT MY BUTT!!!!" leggings for the bottom half of the ensemble, "just 'cuz."

I'm inclined to wonder if some of these girls just don't realize how drastic things look back there.

It's more of a coed thing, in my experience (or, at least it was, back in the '09-10 era when I was still in school). Spring and summer were for painted on khaki and denim booty shorts with tight lacy or stringy tops. Fall and winter were the time for form fitting leggings and "Ugg" boots paired with sweaters or long sleeve t-shirts.

I guess I just haven't seen it in such a long time that it kind of took me by surprise. lol

Tights become see-through more easily, even if they're supposed to be opaque. They have a gusset like panties do (that little rectangle in the crotch), which makes it look bad if you're wearing something too short.

I have noticed that some Europeans seem to more or less equate tights and leggings, but... not for me.

Personally, I also find them to be considerably less comfortable and more prone to damage.

Trust me, you can feel something climbing up your crack. They know. For whatever reason... they just decided to wear it.

I don't really get it. It's not hard to make yourself match if you just buy the right things in the first place. I think a lot of people buy a lot of things they think they like but won't wear, or stuff that doesn't match anything in their wardrobe, etc. Seems like most people only like a fraction of what they have, and if you're in a hurry, you can wind up throwing on a really weird combination of things.

Ah. Gotcha.

I guess "yoga pants" are moisture wicking and a bit more durable than either?

Perhaps. Though, I wouldn't necessarily rule out that some of them might be looking for a certain degree of attention either.

In any eventuality, being rather firmly in the "find a couple of different outfits you like, and then proceed to wear them until they basically fall apart" camp myself, I can't really say that I'm particularly familiar with the scenario you describe.

Not sure. Don't think I've ever owned yoga pants. Probably, though.

Quite possibly. Reminds me of those sweatpants with "juice" on the ass.

I haven't had that scenario in years either. I just buy stuff I know I'll wear, goes with what I already have (and wear), and will be comfortable enough that I won't avoid it. My wardrobe isn't particularly big, and it all goes together. If I fall into it and have to wear whatever lands on me, it'll probably look fine.

I think a lot of women buy stuff they like, but won't necessarily willingly wear, thus the rushing-out-the-door-looking-crazy scenario, and the overstuffed wardrobe. My friend and roommate has 3 times as many clothes as I do, but only wears about a third of them.

I've never seen anybody wear yoga pants crammed up their butt like that....

To answer your question, I wear them all the time. They definitely don't look like that though!

I LOVE leggings. I wear them so much in the fall/winter. They're cute, flattering, and so very comfortable.

I usually wear them with a skirt or a dress, and since most dresses are so short on me considering I'm 5'9", the leggings actually help protect my modesty, lol. A cute pair of denim shorts also looks really good with leggings, and boots. God I love this time of year.

I very rarely wear them without something over the top of them. Well, unless they're jeggings, but they're meant to be worn like that.

There are many different styles of Yoga pants. I live in them when not working. They don't have to be skin tight and they are thicker than leggings. I like a boot cut and your body type depends on how tight they fit.
