This thread is not about gay rights, transgendered rights, or whether people should, or should not alter their private parts.

FAllon was born a man, but at the age of 36 went under the knife to become a "woman". This month he fought TAmikka Brent in the ring and pretty much destroyed her. There are other women MMA fighters that refuse to fight him due to the fact of his genetic make-up. Fallon has taken to calling these ladies " transphobic'' because they refuse to fight him. He's taken to twitter, the media, and facebook calling them out as being bigoted.

So do you think this is fair? From what I know, you can't unscramble an egg. You can take hormones but it won't take away your genetic make up, or bone density. I believe that we have gotten to the point where we walk on eggshells bc we're afraid we'll offend people. I wonder if that's why he's allowed to fight women?

After Being TKO'd by Fallon Fox, Tamikka Brents Says Transgender Fighters in MMA 'Just Isn't Fair' | Cagepotato

“I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night. I can’t answer whether it’s because she was born a man or not because I’m not a doctor. I can only say, I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right,” she stated. “Her grip was different, I could usually move around in the clinch against other females but couldn’t move at all in Fox’s clinch…

“I still disagree with Fox fighting,” Brents stated. “Any other job or career I say have a go at it, but when it comes to a combat sport I think it just isn’t fair. At least not until we have more scientific proof that it is or isn’t fair. More research is needed for sure. Like I said, I am not a doctor, I can only say my opinion and I don’t believe that she should be allowed to fight other women. If it were strictly BJJ or wrestling or something like that sure, but MMA is a completely different sport.”

From what I've been told any individual that believes they are one or more genders, without regard to their anatomy, is that or those genders. So, if that's the case, then these people who gender identify as woman are being unfairly bigoted againss the other individual who gender identifies the same way they do.

I'm sure that I'll be corrected if i got that wrong...or right.

While I totally support anybody's right to change their body in any way they see fit, while maintaining all of their original rights, I don't think people should be able to jump over to the other side in sports competitions. Sports are gender separated for a reason, and that reason is that men are more genetically adapted to physical confrontation.

If Joe-Bob is an athlete is his respective sport but isn't very good at it, does that mean he should be allowed to just magically change to the female side of the sport and smash them into the dirt? I think it's bull**** and the sports league has every right to force him to compete with his original gender or not at all. If it were a mixed gender sport it wouldn't be an issue in the slightest.

Yea... I'm pretty damn skeptical that being biologically male isn't providing this person with at least some kind of unfair advantage over the competition. He/she/it had 36 years to develop their body with the full benefit of male physiology, and naturally occurring male sex hormones.

That almost certainly means that they have denser and stronger muscles and bones than their female competitors would be able to match simply on a residual level.

My original reaction was to say 'No, she shouldn't be able to compete'. Then I read into it a bit more:

"Medical expert [...], Dr. Eric Vilain—director of the Institute for Society and Genetics at UCLA—examined Fallon’s medical records and pointed out that “male to female transsexuals have significantly less muscle strength and bone density, and higher fat mass, than males." She’s totally within the normal female range in terms of height, fitness, and strength.

Which is why, no doubt, the Association of Boxing Commissioners ruled last year that there is no advantage for trans fighters. And why the International Olympic Committee says it's OK for trans athletes to compete two years after they've had surgery."

I'll trust the medical experts and official associations decisions over my immediate thoughts on the whole thing, and definitely over someone who lost and then complained about it after the fight. Bad form there.

Anyway, sports, by definition, are filled with people who have 'unfair' genetic advantages. Yao Ming has the genetic advantage over 99% of men that he is 7 foot 6. Nobody complains about that genetic advantage. Can you imagine Kobe Bryant saying. "I've played basketball against a lot of men, and I never saw such unnatural height. Normally I can reach the ball, but he was different...."

Don't think it is biased or bigoted for women to refuse to fight this transgendered woman because, whether fair or not, they believe she has an unfair genetic advantage due to having been born a man. And this isn't just a single aspect of their physical body that makes them genetically advantaged, but rather many different things. In some ways, they are right, even with therapy.

That being said, out of most sports that are always separated according to gender, I'd say that MMA is probably one where it can be countered with proper training and conditioning. I also like how California requires certain amount of time under hormone therapy to compete.

If he wants someone to fight he can always fight a man.

There's no turning back now, people wanted all this. I hope (s)he beats the snot out of every woman in the ring. He....uh she has rights!

This reminds me of a thread some time back, where a couple of women pretty much jumped down my throat for suggesting that male physiology gives men a major advantage in combative situations over women. They insisted things evened out somehow and all that, and that men and women were "equal" in combative ability.

Apparently it ain't so....

I really don't understand this kind of lunacy. There is a difference between a woman and a transwoman. Refusing to acknowledge that there is a difference is refusing to acknowledge transgenderism at all, it's refusing to acknowledge the difficulty and anguish that transgender people experience. This isn't helping anybody.

If a transgender person dies, and they're body isn't discovered until a few decades later, what will the forensic evidence show regarding the "sex" of the body?

She probably believed what the scientists said verbatim and under estimated his strength. I don't think science can take away ones' strength. I believe he lost a lot of weight to be able to fight her too. Even hardcore MMA'ers said the mat looked like a homicide scene when it was all over.

And he still looks like a man to me! His smug, "I'll beat any woman down"attitude is irritating!

And those are the types of naive women who have never felt the strength of a man used 'against' them.

Did he have all those Y chromosomes changed go X?
Time to tell them to grow up and mutalating themselves.

A quick heads up to those who are confused on the correct pronoun to use, it's 'she'.

Even if you do disagree with her being allowed to fight.

Ya, this person lived 30 years as a man, trained as a man, and now that he's got woman parts, we are supposed to ignore that she is built like a tank, thick bones like a man.

Especially that he lied going into it, this is completely unfair.

Now, if a woman knew ahead of time, and agreed to the fight, then sure... But really, this newly formed woman is taking an unfair advantage, akin to the woman on the other side being dosed to the gills with testosterone.

Everyone wants to control the definition of a word until they get hit in the face. Maybe there needs to be a transgender class and they can beat on each other.

I hope a girl kicks his ass.

There's a certain class of people that wanted this, and now they have it. Hope they're proud.

He, she, it, don't really matter at this point. I say its an it.

I don't know why it bothers people if others use their BIRTH pronoun. If I spent millions of dollars to look like Kim kardashian (butt implant included) I would not be upset if people called me by my name and not Kim. Your personal hang ups should not be everyone else's hang up's.

The one confused is the subject of the thread.

Errrm, no. Mutilating your body does not change you from a he to a she.
