Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children[W:130]

Re: Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

No offense but you being a lesbian are a little bias on this.

Would you (did you!?) say the same thing to black people when they demanded equal rights just a few decades ago?

Everyone deserves equal rights, even the people you find "icky".

Re: Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

That is the difference between the right and the left we on the right can disagree with our fellow conservatives on the left you can't.

Actually, the opposite is true.

Re: Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

Greg Abbott is a horrible Texas attorney general.

Greg and most Texans know it isn't about the little children...it's about votes.

Re: Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

Maybe you missed all the Libertarian-Left leans on DP. Libertarians can lean right, but libertarianism as a general rule of thumb does not inherently lean either way.

"I am not a Libertarian, I don't think we should all run around naked and smoke dope. I am a constitutional conservative, I'm a liberty Republican." - Rand Paul

"They thought all along that they could call me a libertarian and hang that label around my neck like an albatross, but I'm not a libertarian." - Rand Paul

Nope. Look at the Libertarian Party platform if you don't believe me. We take left-leaning stances on all of the issues I just mentioned.

I used to have a Libertarian-Left lean here, and was roundly chastised for it by libertarians.

I don't see that as a reason to get rid of it, but rather a reason to keep it. ;)

The libertarian base needs it's jimmies to be rustled every once in a while, keeps it from becoming a giant circlejerk.

Shouldn't have let them bully you.

Re: Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

This is my position on SSM also.....There is really a simple solution let the gays call their union with all the same benefits anything else but not marriage.

Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

Navy Pride, all friendly joking aside I have to tell you are obsessed with gay people. I have several friends who are gay. At least they say they are. I've never watched them having sex and other than that they are no different from you or me. Maybe your ask gay people to invite you to watch them have sex. I don't know how it works, but somehow you seem to be extremely knowledgeable of all things homosexual.

My gay friends rarely talk about gay anything. It's not a topic of conversation. As far as I know they don't spend their hours thinking, "I'm gay, I'm gay" anymore than straight people spend their hours thinking "I'm straight, I'm straight." You, my right wing friend, spend more time thinking about and talking about gay people than all the gay people I know combined! I'm serious.

You eat, sleep, walk and talk gay. You read a information about gay people. Your gay obsession now defines you. You have become the object of your obsession. If someone were to ask me to name three people on the board connected to gay/lesbian discussion I'd name Clax and my good friend and home girl, Your Star and then I'd name you.

In all that reading and talking and thinking and dreaming you do about gay/lesbian people it seems to me that you'd find good things to say as well. Maybe I'm missing it, but my gay and lesbian friends are good people. They are friends I trust, friends I value.

One of my gay friends is a 6' 7" and probably weights close to 300 pounds. He is a devout Roman Catholic. About 10 years ago he took a personal vow to dedicate his life to helping those less fortunate than him. He is a web designer. He has developed a number of sites internationally for the Roman Catholic Church and he maintains them - for free. He develops and maintains community sites assisting non-profits that assist people in need and he charges just enough so that he can maintain an apartment and put food on his table. He volunteers at his church and in the community. He doesn't own a car.

He could do very well for himself if he wanted to make a lot of money. He did in the past. He has developed and maintained sites for people you have heard of. Through his faith he decided his life would be more fulfilling helping other people who really needed the help and that is what he does. He is gay. But, he spends most all of his time thinking about helping people than about being gay.

Re: Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

How the heck is it better for children to have civil unions for homosexuals and marriage for heterosexuals? Conservatives think civil unions would be equal in every aspect but the name, so isn't that just making homosexual couples the same as heterosexual couples regarding the raising of children?

I must have missed that.

You should join us free market communists.

But it's strictly BYOV.

Thats a personal attack? LOl.....wow.

I'm tolerant of the KKK. I understand their right to exist. I have no plans to restrict their existence or speech. I don't have to agree with their beliefs and I can even argue against their positions. That is tolerance.

Standing by with no reaction is not tolerance, it is moronic.

In other words "but, that's our word! You meany-head gays can't call something the same thing we call it. That's not nice! I'm gonna tell my daddy on you!"

Seriously, that is all your argument is; petulant whining of the bigoted.

It wasn't a personal attack, but an accurate observation. You are more obsessed with gay people than anyone else on DP. As a matter of fact, I have never, in my entire life, met someone who is so incredibly obsessed with gay people as you are. I know GLBT activists, drag queens, and even gay porn stars that think about gay people less than you do.

I mean this, with all kidding aside, it really does come across as pathological.

Re: Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

And your opinion has zero evidence to back it up, while the opinion that same sex couples provide equal parenting to their straight counter parts has plenty of evidence to back it up. We live in the real world, it's time for you and everyone against SSM to join us.

Just because liberal judges over rule the will of the people in states that banned it doesn't mean americans want this. Even liberal California said NO to SSM, but because a couple judges know better then millions of people it gets overturned. Let's be honest about this.

Okay, let's be honest. Tell me, please, on what basis the "will of the people" should apply to deciding on the legality of SSM rights. I've heard this line of utter crap from the Right for years, with no explanation as to WHY the "will of the people" should be so sacrosanct here. We do not now live, nor have we ever lived, in a Democracy. So tell me why, in a Republic, the "will of the people" should be so honored when it comes to passing laws that limit the rights/freedoms/privileges of the minority.

Come on, let's be honest here.

Oh, and when it comes to judicial review, YES a "couple of judges" DO know better than millions of people. That's why they are, you know, judges.

When those millions of people all go to law school and amass the same level of legal expertise, then their opinion will mean more than a hill of beans.

I know the same thing happened with slavery and jim crow laws. Freakin liberal judges. I hate them too.

A name by any other name would smell as sweet... marriage/union. Why not call heterosexual partnerships unions and homosexual one's marriages?

Re: Texas: Gay-marriage ban best for children

and you're a ****ing **** conservative old bigot who doesn't actually give a **** about kids, which makes you way the **** more bias than her

It is up to the legislative branch to write laws that are Constitutional.
