I generally don't use either of the apps mentioned in the title but do have accounts for both. A little while ago one of the organizations I belong to decided that they needed to get in on the social media thing and set up their own pages. I know this because I started getting a freaking ton of notifications especially from Twitter. Now the accounts I set up a while back aren't tied to my work email but since that's the address that all these emails are coming to I figure the organization must have added that email in somehow. Furthermore, on top of all the organization emails I'm getting it also seems like the junk mail heading my way has exploded.

My question is if all that extra junk could possibly be due to the new Twitter thing and, if so, how do I get it to stop. It's at a point where I don't even bother to delete the junk because it takes too long but I'm also kind of concerned that I'll miss something that's actually important. I'm using Outlook and, frankly, I'm starting to go batty from all the crap.

You might have to look around but I'd assume there's definitely a way to turn off Twitter email notifications.

Edit: I found out how. Log in to Twitter, click on "Notifications," then "Settings." You should be able to adjust from there.

Hmmmm... It could be due to Twitter and FB, but it also might not. What kind of subjects does the junk mail usually cover?

Could you try updating your filter settings to keep the junk out?

I don't use Twitter, so I don't know how to do it, but in FB you need to go into Settings>Notifications>Email. You'll get a screen like this:

Then you can select your preferred email notifications.
