Pre cancer growths usually on your face. I am very light skinned and went to the dermatologist for a couple of spots on my face that just wouldn't heal. Turns out its pre-cancer. He gave me this cream to put on my face twice a day. It brings up all the effected tissue even if wasn't noticeable before. My face is covered with red, sore, itchy ugly patches. Its pretty gross but hopefully after a couple of weeks it should be back to normal. Anyone else have to deal with this? Just curious if anyone had any advice or cared to share their experience. I see the Dr. on Thursday, I sure hope I can stop the treatment and start healing.

Thanks.

I haven't and hope you feel better. I did manage to get myself a raging case of poison ivy over the weekend. Both arms, chest, stomach and neck. Those areas are covered in ugly red blotchy skin complete with blisters that make me look like I have the friggin' bubonic plague. And itchy as a mother. So I can kinda / sorta commiserate.

Sorry to hear that. I don't know anything about it, but I hope it goes away and you heal completely, and quickly.

Yea that's what my face looks like. The Dr. did say I would look like a "leper". He was right.

One of my former colleagues who is very fair skinned, came to work one day and it looked like he had a wicked bad case of poison ivy or the worst teenage acne I had seen. Same thing. I think it lasted about a week but it was several years ago and I don't recall the exact length since he went on vacation and I did right before he came back and when I saw him again it was all gone

I'm very fair skinned. I'm sure it was years of playing tennis along with other outside activity. I fell asleep on Miami beach once. The one and only time. I put on sunscreen and wore a baseball cap a lot but not religiously. Very similar to this, I hope the after photo is similar as well.

As I understand it, its sun damaged skin that can become skin cancer roughly 10 percent of the time. Of that there is a possibility it turns to the really bad type like 1% of the time. I'm sure you have the google skills to research. I must say it is important to keep on top of growths, marks, spots as you get older. Especially if you are fair skinned and or spend a lot of time in the sun.

Thanks for your reply.

Well good luck, it sounds like it's relatively harmless at this point.

Don't forget PSA tests either, as we get a little older.

Wow. Hope you recover shortly and take the necessary steps to keep yourself free of anything like this again. I asked the doctor years ago about a spot on my face, and he told me it was my nose. He was my friend before that.

Update: 2nd day of the treatment and I feel much better. Still look gross but getting better. Prescription cortisone to help clear my face. Should be good in a week to 10 days. Best to go to the dermatologist if you see something remotely abnormal. I regret waiting over a year. Especially if you are light skinned and lighter colored eyes.

True enough. From what I understand 1 bad burn increases the rate of skin cancer. I burn easily, have Lupus and I use what my dermatologist recommended. I use a 60 to 65 sunscreen. And I still burn easily.
Loreal and Ombrelle are good brands.

I'm sure an auto immune problem doesn't help. I didn't know about the 1 bad burn scenario. I am a fellow moon beam burner who was quite active outside for most of my life with tennis, softball, basketball etc. I'm not surprised after reading about it.

Lots of sunscreen are junk. The 2 I mentioned, the second is made by Loreal. When we vacation in the winter I slather it on. It lasts quite well even swimming in salt water. But when I am there I always get a burn on some part of my body.
I am sure your Dr. recommended using sunscreens.

Its a poor use of a descriptive. Its either cancer or its not.
Solar Keratosis ( Actinic and or Seborrheic Keratosis ) have little chance of becoming cancerous.
There is a chance of them developing into a squamous or basal cell carcinoma over time but its a small percentage.

I have a bit of small brownish spots on the back of my hands and forearms not all that bad but it bugs me.. most people call them age spots which is keratosis from just a lot of sun exposure over the years.
microdermabrasion or chemical peels can often get rid of keratosis. if they are more mole-like then cryo or just having it cut off/out.
