Amazon is now accepting original scripts and video! You can even write your own screenplay with their new app which will automatically format it on your browser.

Amazon will look at your scripts and if they like it they will make it into a series or a movie!

This is awesome. As soon as I'm done writing a trilogy of post apocalyptic novels (book one is done, doing book two now), I'm gonna move into screenwriting!

I'll watch the flick.

While it's a cool idea, I have a sneaking suspicion that the terms of this means you sign away most of the rights to your idea. I'd be a little careful about this.

edit:
Just checked the terms:

The compilation of all content on the Site is the exclusive property of Amazon and protected by U.S. and international copyright laws.

If you're cool with that then go ahead, but remember, if you're not paying for a service, you're not the customer, you're the product.

I've read it- according to their agreements it only covers the submission and the review process, if you submit materials with them you are granting Amazon the right to distribute for review purposes but not giving them the rights to produce it. They have to negotiate with you if they want to go to the next step. Your original work is your own and copyrighted by you the moment you write it but of course its prudent to perhaps notarize it before you submit just to be sure.

Nevertheless, if you make your submission public other writers might try to steal your idea so its best to make a private submission to amazon.
