Pickens Plan, XOM, LNG, your car, and your house

Everybody knows about Pickens plan by now I am sure

did you also know Exxon Mobil is completely getting out of the retail sale of gasoline

XOM is also going to take possession of the largest LNG ship ever built, perhaps the first of many

A big push of the Pickens plan is using LNG

LNG vehicles is a proven technology already in production & use

while i am sure LNG distribution, including lines into houses, is under 50% of what is necessary, it does seem that it is miles ahead of any other alternative infrastructure-wise
especially since, those who already have gas piped into their house, can fill up everytime they go home

could it really be, that all the while making record profits, that one of the most evil corporations ever known to man, is actually acting in its own best interest, and positioning itself for the future as the leader in LNG
Is it possible that the Big automakers will be saved by building LNG cars if this comes to be

and most importantly, which stocks should I own to take advantage of this, if true

p.s. I thought of putting this in the conspiracy theories section, but decided it had some, if only a little, credibility

LNG is better than oil, but it would make us beholden to Russian and the increased demand would probably put prices through the roof. Its a clever business choice by Exxon, but switching to LNG isn't really much in the national interest. Natural gas is best used in buffer powerplants to handle the unpredictability of solar and wind.

A local utility had one running around town here several years ago. It had a range of 90 miles between refueling stops, hardly useful in a semi-rural area.

Find out what Nancy Pelosi is buying. Pickens made his first billion building and running Mesa Petroleum. Since the stockholders kicked him out, he's trying again with natural gas, but he needs a lot of taxpayer subsidy to make his next billion. See link.

Walmart is rolling out trucks with Diesel compatible results and a range of 400 miles
I think cars could do well, especially in cities where alot of gas lines are already laid
seems everybody looks at every proposed solution as if it has to be a comprehensive nationwide immediate solution

Agreed. Vespa scooters would probably do very well also, but I just can't see a lot of people running out to buy a vehicle that is only good for urban commuting. IMO the demand is for a vehicle that can safely and comfortably carry the 4-6 person carpool or a little league team.

toyota tacoma hybrid
already in your local dealer
layers of alternatives, layers is the key. there is no golden goose, one idea to solve all the problems
besides we already tried that with oil and see how well that worked out

Re: Pickens Plan, XOM, LNG, your car, and your house

A lot of NG is used for heating homes, but we still build homes that leak air.
Insulation is not the only thing to consider when putting up a new building, but it is pretty much all we hear about. INFILTRATION is a big issue as well, and if that is bad, no amount of insulation will help.
Sealing a house from stray leaks is easily done during new construction, and it is cheap as well. The house needs fresh air, but where that air enters and exits the house should be controlled, and limited to just the amount needed for good health. I have been in homes that leak badly, and the builder may have saved a few hundred dollars building it that way, but he was building a lot of houses so it adds up for him, and the gas, heating oil, and electric companies. The home owner gets to pay higher energy bills for the life of the building.
I am waiting for Pickens to say something about using LESS energy, instead of just shifting from oil to gas....

Just FYI. All U.S. military vehicles run on CNG, I'm not talking tanks and humvees, but rather things like sedans and pickup trucks, and we have CNG gas stations on base.
