Here is Carl Sagan explaining the Cornell experiments producing complex organic molecules (including the building blocks of proteins and nucleic acids) from adding energy to a recreation of the gases & compounds on the early earth (1st half of the video): YouTube - The Origins of Life (Carl Sagan: 1 of 2)
However abiogenesis is not the standard model for the origin of life, its simply one of the possible ways it could have happened. The fact is that all of the proto-nucleic acids you need for life to begin has been found throughout the cosmos. I believe life here began out there, and that our planet was seeded by a comet/asteroid with such compounds.
