Firefox 3 and IE 8.0

The newest incarnation of the Firefox web browser - Firefox 3 - will be available for download on Tuesday, June 17, 2008. Mozilla expects 5 million downloads within the first 24 hours. Mozilla will also unveil a mobile web browser in the fall of 2008.

Internet Explorer 8 - the newest Miscrsoft web browser - will be available in August of 2008. MS has pledged that IE 8.0 will be far more developer and enterprise friendly and easier for IT pros to manage.

Re: Firefox 3 and IE 8.0

fwiw, I installed FF3. browsed normally. then my comp crashed and then would only reboot to a bsod. i booted into another os and everything was fine. Then i used xp's system restore to return to a point b4 installing ff3. now it functions.

I don't know for sure that ff3 is the issue. however, i'm gonna wait a bit before i reinstall it.

Re: Firefox 3 and IE 8.0

Running Firefox 3 now, works perfectly. I suspect you issue Simon is OS related and not Firefox related.

Re: Firefox 3 and IE 8.0

I downloaded FF3 to let them get that record as I really like their product. I didn't install it yet because I've read that some of the add-ons haven't been working properly yet and I don't wanna mess with something that's working fine now.

I've used every Firefox version including the initial beta version and never had a problem with any of them. Simon....uninstall Firefox 2.0 and then re-install FF-3.

8.3 million FF-3 downloads within the first 24 hours. Mozilla is now aware of a security problem that is inherent in both 2.0 and 3.0 and a patch will be available very shortly. Firefox will auto-check for updates periodically or you can use...

I've been using each of the release candidated of FF3, and am so happy with the release build. Has anyone used PicLense yet?

BEST ADD-ON EVAR! I now look forward to having to search for an image on google or video on youtube.

Re: Firefox 3 and IE 8.0

I installed FF3 the day it was released and I must say - I like it! I've been using FF2 for the past 6-8 months and it is far superior to IE in so many ways. I do agree with shuamort, it sucks that not all of the add-ons work with FF3, but this should hopefully be fixed shortly. I lost about half my add-ons because they aren't compatible, yet. I really like the "Most visited" button as well, pretty cool. Of course if Stumble Upon wasn't compatible, I would stick with FF2 until it was.

I just tried PicLense (based on your recommendation) and I must say it is incredible! Thanks!
