Cool: Fridge Without Using Electricity!

"Science and Technology" implies deep thought, complicated inventions, and massive technical engineering. However, things can be looked at from such a technical standpoint that the simplest solutions are sometimes overlooked.

Take refrigeration, for example. In northern Nigeria, a man has invented a refrigerator that keeps food cold, using no electricity. The genius in his invention is pure simplicity, and a little knowledge of the effects of what happens when a liquid evaporates.

For minimalists who would like to make as little of a footprint as possible on the earth, this simple invention will be appreciated. The reduction in electricity consumption, and resultant energy bills, will also be appreciated.

Click here and watch a true genius at work. Einsteinian concepts might be over his head, but what goes through his mind could very well transform the third world. Wouldn't you then agree that he could have just as big of an effect on modern science and technology as someone like Einstein?

This technique is an excellent example of great inventions that don't require high-tech components. Its not going to replace fridges for most people, but it will give them to those who could have never had them before.

Re: Cool: Fridge Without Using Electricity!

The concept is not new, nor is the apllication of it...
It just seems new because we have been dependent so long on high tech methods of doing things that when someone comes along and demonstrates old tech, we assume it is new, because we are not aware of the history of invention and technology.
