Boot and run Linux from a USB flash memory stick

This is neat as hell. You can have a dual boot system with either Windoze or Linux, and the complete Linux distribution resides on your flash drive. All you need is a flash drive 1GB or bigger, and the ability to boot your system from a USB device. You can take your Linux operating system with you, wherever you go and boot from ANY computer that supports booting from a USB device. I partitioned my 4MB flash drive into 2 FAT32 partitions, and not only can I boot Linux, but have 2 GB left over to save files and projects on, which is plenty.

Here ya' go. Enjoy.

BSOD = Blue Screen of Death, which seems to be a standard option with Windoze. LOL.

I have never had a bad experience with Linux, and I have been using it since the old Slackware days. Slackware was my first experience with Linux, and back then, you had to be a techie in order to install and run it. Since then, installation has gotten easy to the point where it is even easier than windows to install. The downside is that there is much less commercially available software for Linux than Windoze, but Linux is still pretty neat. It is much more stable than Windoze. My favorite version is Red Hat, but the Pendrive Linux is pretty neat.

Your point? You must not know about Ubuntu + Compiz Fusion. Ubuntu (my personal favorite Linux distro) blows any version of Windows out of the water in terms of graphical UI, stability and performance. It also comes with OpenOffice (think MS Office) out of the box, Check it:

I have seen people running XP get it, although it is not nearly to the extent that people with 95 or 98 used to. Another advantage with Linux is that almost all viruses and spyware is created to exploit Windoze, not Linux.

A linux distribution is not an obscure thing, and Ubuntu is hardly made up. Nevermind, it's obvious I'm talking to a Luddite on matters I wouldn't even go into with my mother.
